Today’s pretty pretty party is from a wedding we planned and designed at Barnsley Resort in Georgia.  It was so so fun for us to be at a place that we had never worked before, and they did an amazing job bending over backwards to make sure they knocked it out of the park, which we love from our vendors.  When you have fantastic clients, vendors, and design the day just comes together swimmingly… All photos by Lauren Bailey.

Barnsley Resort is situation outside of Atlanta and since the original owner commissioned the estate to be built for and inspired by his wife, it’s a perfect spot for a wedding!

The ceremony was held on the ground overlooking the home and was situated under a sailcloth tent.  We decided to go that route to provide shade from the Southern sun, but there were a few showers off and on, so thankfully we were covered! Our bride wore a gown by Mikaella and carried a bouquet full of lush peonies, roses, olive leaf, euphorbia, and fern fronds.

Our bride had the sweetest handkerchief embroidered as a gift to her father on the wedding, so it inspired me to have individual hankies embroidered with the wedding date passed out to guests before the ceremony…

We wanted to make sure our pristine white rose petal aisle stayed picture perfect for our bride, so ushers seated guests from the outside of the aisles.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a  garden party cocktail hour on the lawn in front the house ruins, complete with our new custom built oyster tables… perfect for serving chilled oysters on the half shell.  One of our other favorite details at cocktail hour were the bar menu booklets… all of the drink offerings were described and printed for guests to peruse and order from.

The interior of the house provided a gorgeous backdrop for some of the cocktail stations… You know we love a decorated mantle, even if it’s in an abandoned house! We loved the look of the wedding cake cutting photos being in the house as well, so the couple went ahead and cut the cake before moving into the reception tent and the slices were passed out to guests on pretty trays. The centerpiece of the reception tent was a huge square bar with marble tops and fresh greenery “growing” all over it.  I love our new macrame lanterns that were clustered over the bar, and we created plenty of fun different seating vignettes for guests to gather and sip. Also adding depth and texture to the large white reception tent was our greenery band backdrop…. You have heard about our stage partitions that we created years ago to hide all of the cords and ugly parts of band setup and stage fronts, but we also love what doing backdrop walls does for our couples’ dance photos.  This living greenery wall added a more complete feel for our garden tent.

The couple had a stellar send off to sparklers, a perfect end to a perfect evening… We look forward to being back in Georgia for another Barnsley wedding!

We are fortunate that living in the South allows us to do winter weddings with almost as much ease as Spring weddings (it’s 60+ here in Charleston today!). When you have a back drop as graceful and stunning as the Ford Planation in Savannah, Georgia, you get year round spectacular events! For this Sunday brunch wedding, our bride and groom opted for a chic blue and white toile as the pattern du jour.  The toile was worked into everything from the invitations to the umbrellas, table linens, and even tray liners. Winter white peonies and ranunculus were mixed with festive greens for centerpieces and bouquets which set a romantic mood and the cake was topped with seasonal fruit to finish it off. Of course there were plenty of personal touches as well. Our bride wore a vintage family veil, and received a beautiful bracelet to wear that day as a gift from the groom. The bride’s mother made homemade banana pecan bride and peach chutney which we packaged with custom designed tags by Lettered Olive and guests received as their welcome gift.

Set under live oaks and overlooking the river, the wedding ceremony was anchored by a simple greenery covered chuppa.  Guests then joined the couple on the back lawn of the Plantation for an al fresco brunch reception.

The menu consisted of favorite Southern brunch delicacies with a twist, such as Quail and Grits -alongside Shrimp and Grits, Ford Eggs Benedict, as well as a Bloody Mary Station with pickled veggies and Artillery Punch (a famous Savannah celebratory cocktail). One  long table topped with umbrellas in the signature pattern for shade allowed for guests to mingle easily. The bride hand wrote notes to all of her guests thanking them for being there, which also doubled as place cards.

As they said their goodbyes, guests tossed white rose petals out of paper cones made from the blue and white toile pattern while the couple drove off in a classic black vintage car. This winter wedding couldn’t have been more perfect!

Today we are tossing it back a few years to this wedding we did in Athens, Georgia at the bride’s family home. Full of bright Spring florals and details, we built a tented reception for over 400 on the property that felt like an extension of the home. The family was so amazing, and we are always challenged with not imposing on their lives leading up to the big day while we’re constructing the event. This one was a beauty just like the bride, and thank you to Liz Banfield for the pretty snaps.

I love the images photographers are able to capture when a bride marries at home. Because of the bright palette for the wedding, bridesmaids wore a neutral metallic so that the flowers would pop. We also made two bouquets for this bride- one all white and one colorful and let her chose what she wanted to carry. Those coral charm peonies are near impossible to turn down, so colorful it was!

Since there was an amazing oak tree on the front lawn, we chose that as our ceremony “alter”. Lettered Olive also created a linking monogram of M and W (the two last initials), which along with the oak tree emblem was used throughout their printed materials and embroidered on their boat bag guest welcome totes.

The M and W monograms were used as floral decor throughout the wedding – here as the bride watches the guests arrive before her walk down the aisle.

Because the aisle blanketed with colorful rose petals made such a statement, we wanted to make sure it was preserved for the bride’s walk. We draped boughs of boxwood garlands accented with bouquets of coordinating blooms down the inner aisle. Wrought iron candle lanterns hung with boxwood greenery and adorned with lush bouquets of flowers created a spectacular alter.

Because of the large number of guests- we didn’t want the Southern guest book tradition to create a bottle neck. So, we placed bags with a card (featuring the bride’s favorite quote on love) and a pen for everyone to write their well wishes during the ceremony prelude. Guests then dropped them in a birdcage hanging on the way out of the ceremony.

Guests enjoyed cocktails in cabana tent surrounding the pool. Potted boxwoods were artfully placed throughout as a nod to the landscape design used on the property. Cocktail tables were lucite boxes with live plants underneath- one of our favorite details on this one!

Sylvia Weinstock’s cake was such a showpiece, it deserved it’s own conservatory.

With this bright color palette, the tent was so dreamy and glowing when the sun set.  To dress up the restroom trailer, a flip flop and pashmina station was displayed for ladies to grab on their way out and back to to the party.

Custom birdseed packets were made for tossing at the send off. After a quick change into a traditional departure outfit,  the couple left in the comfort of a Bentley for their two hour ride to Atlanta to depart for their honeymoon.
