We are coming up on ten years for this couple. Having worked on their wedding years ago at Runnymede, outside of Charleston, this couple until recently was a neighbor of mine. They were a joy to work with and still a joy to know. Enjoy their pretty Spring Fling. All photos by Liz Banfield Photography.
The ceremony design is kept simple but stunning. The natural beauty of the surroundings are decor enough. But, adding some unexpected touches, like linen ottomans accented with blooms, and a gospel choir serenading during the recessional make it truly magical.
The bridesmaids are in full length Amsale dresses in the teal wedding color. And, colorful and textured bouquets of garden roses, sweet peas, hypericum, geranium, and ranunculus give a pop of spring tones.
The natural notes in the printing items by Lettered Olive are glammed up by letterpressing chic patterns on wood grain paper. And, using items like velvet covered menus, and copper tags throughout the printing add elegance.
After the river front ceremony, guests head to a cocktail hour that include a huge printed fabric bar. It’s highlighted with draped garlands and al fresco lounge seating for prime views.
Cocktail hour is full of many favorites like our Soiree signature Lowcountry Lemonade, rose bubbly, and Virginia Ham biscuits, for example.
Copper garden tags “planted” in live grass boxes serve as the escort cards for dinner. And, in lieu of a guest book, guests sign a magnum of one of the couple’s favorite bottles.
The dinner tent is highlighted by seagrass flooring and a basketweave greenery installation. Our own Frank and Lane chairs (available thru Snyder) are custom painted the wedding teal. Long tables topped with ostrich leather and pastel skirts alternate with square wooden farm tables. Dunes and Duchess spindle lamps with burlap shades blend perfectly with teal Creative Candles tapers.
A mixture of gathered florals add to the elevated garden ambience. Varying shades of menu booklets by Velvet Raptor have engraved copper name tags serving as the place cards.
The 3 wedding cakes by Jim Smeal rest atop a lush greenery tablecloth we made by gluing hundreds of fresh galax leaves. Also, adorable custom “doggie bags” are for guests to take home extra cake slices. The photo inside is of the couples two Australian Shepards, so happy to be included!
After dancing their first dance as husband and wife to band, Party on the Moon, the bride changed into an amazing feathered and sequined party dress. Special guest, Tone Loc, performs several hits to start the party.
At the end of the evening, the guests enjoy a fireworks show. And, the happy couple depart in a vintage Chevy pick up with sparklers glowing.
