To have children at the wedding or not have children at the wedding, that is the question. There is literally no right or wrong answer to this question. It’s all about what you want for your way. And, you can even have it both ways. If you do elect to have them, we have a few ideas for you on attire. Personally, I’m not one for boys in tuxedos, it feels too mature. I prefer that they wear something more appropriate to their age. Above, seersucker pants (we are in the South after all) with a classic navy blazer and ties to match the wedding party pull together a sharp look for the younger group.
At this spring wedding, linen suits for the older boys, and John Johns for the littles make this crew picture perfect. The girls wear coordinating white linen embroidered dresses. Don’t forget the floral headpieces, also! And, don’t worry, all white, or shades of white and cream are totally appropriate.
Of course, there are ways to bring in a bit of color if you so desire. Sashes in shades of the wedding, or in the flowers are a easy entry point. Of course, we also like to make flowers girl baskets or ring bearer pillows out of fabric that is being used elsewhere. Details!
If you want to honor siblings or friends with children (but not worry too much about the party portion), some of our clients have them come and participate for the ceremony, but have a babysitter or designated parent take them home before the reception.
And, if the wee littles just aren’t ready yet, having them come just for photos is also a popular practice.
