Summertime Pool Party

Because of Covid, for now it seems that parties will continue to look like socializing in smaller groups, and most certainly outside. So, that reminds me of a sweet 70th birthday poolside party we did for some former clients. The Peppermint Lounge was a Miami hotspot in the 60’s frequented by the birthday girl, and provided the party inspiration.  Thank you to Leigh Webber for the photography.

Upon arrival, guests are greeted by “pink flamingo” cocktails, along with a poolside lounge and cocktail hour before dinner in the garden.

Cheese board and charcuterie displays are one of our favorite party food items. Setting them in a way that guests can access them from many angles allows guests to help themselves. Put the attention to detail into them so that they become their own centerpieces. Because, we are always trying to come up with fun displays or ways of creative serving, these oyster trays were a huge hit. “Interactive” oysters on the half shell are passed with mignonette sauce in mini champagne bottles. Food by Chef Sarah Adams.

Guests are treated to dinner in the garden. Flamingo Pink topped tables are set with custom Birthday menus, and fun flower pieces. We hired a local artist to create a flamingo mural on the stone garden wall as the background for dinner.

After dinner, guests enjoy lounging poolside, or party the night away in the “Peppermint Lounge”.

For late snacks and sugar cravings, a help yourself sweet display in the lounge kept guests dancing all night long. And, our old school furry ottomans fit right in!
