Belle of the Ballroom | Tara Guérard Soirée

Everyone knows the kind of space you can create in a tent with draping, but with the summer heat especially in July and August, we have a lot of clients coming to us wanting to keep everything inside. Ballrooms typically don’t lend themselves to softer colors, custom design work, and interesting lighting. But, it can be done! This is a rehearsal dinner we did a few years ago at the Planter’s Inn.

Here is a ceremony and seated dinner and dancing for 500+ at a Embassy Suites Convention Center…See how dreamy a dull ballroom can become?

Buff Brides

Another book I’ve been obsessing over on the side is the “Eat This Not That” series.

There are TONS of tips in here that breakdown what’s really in your food, including a food label decoder, what foods you should be eating and why, and what good alternatives to the bad stuff exist. It really helps you see what the reality at restaurants are and once it’s in the back of your head, makes it easier to make better choices. I love it because it’s realistic- it has everything from Fast Food, grocery staples like breakfast cereal, and even every type of beverage and how to choose the best of everything!

Tara got to meet and chat with Bethenny Frankel at the Modern Bride Trendsetters Dinner, 2009- I’m so jealous, LOVE her! Anyway, she brought me back a copy of her back, and again, really appreciated the insight. It never tells you you can’t eat something, but just helps plan the seed about how to make smarter choices.. The more you learn about the food you eat, the easier it is to naturally want to choose the foods that are healthier for you!
