If you follow weddings like we do, you are probably seeing that anything goes these days for bridesmaids’ attire… The NY Times even published a story about a maid of honor showing up in a TRex costume after being given the note to wear ANYthing she wanted! But, our clients are sticking a with a more traditional sense of bridesmaids clothing, even if with a bit of a twist here and there.  Colors are running the gamut, and the standard appears to be different versions of the same dress fabric and colors, as in the above.

This bride wanted a glam and formal event which called for formal gowns. Full length versions of these black dresses were perfectly appropriate and definitely ensures these ladies would be able to wear them again. Even though this was a spring wedding, florals in muted tones made them work for the season.

Shades of blue remain the most common color scheme our clients are wearing. For this seaside Hamptons wedding, watercolor tones created an ombre palette. While, the maid of honor wore a patterned frock, for a special designation.

Long blue gowns for an at home fall wedding in Georgia; a winter Beach wedding in Watercolor, Florida; and a summer evening in Upstate New York.

For a bride who is one part of the fashion house, Dee Hutton, custom made couture gowns in a varying but complimentary color scheme proved amazing in photos.

We were so stunned by this bridal portrait shoot Jose Villa did with our beyond gorgeous bride, Caroline, we just had to share.. There are so many benefits to doing a bridal portrait session prior to your wedding and with your actual wedding photographer. We use them as a hair and make up run through, a dress fitting (and learning how you will move around  in the dress,or if tweaks are needed prior to wedding), and an intimate time getting to know your photographer so that that level of comfort comes through in the actual wedding photos.

Caroline chose a dress by Carolina Herrera. The Whitby Hotel in New York City was chosen as the shoot location-  the couple would marry upstate at Troutbeck.  We also like to use the portrait day as a test for the bouquet.

Flowers are more often seen and associated with flower girls, or even bridesmaids (esp with the big trend of floral crowns), but a flower in the hair of a bride can be such a surprising note, and lovely nonetheless. We like it as the sole hair accessory, or in conjunction with a veil.  Today is all about the ode to the versatility of a flower on a bride’s wedding day- and not just in the bouquet…

Here, our bride marrying on Sea Island, chose some dainty flowers in her hair for a pop of color, and to maintain a bit of bridal flourish when the veil was removed after the ceremony.  Love the feel of both simplicity and formality in this look.

For another Sea Island wedding, our bride knew that photos on the beach were a must have, and wearing a veil that would be blustering about was a must not- so a crown of live gardenias was made for her french knot.  And, of course, since gardenias can yellow quickly, we kept fresh ones on hand all evening to replace…

These flowers were a last minute addition during our bride’s hair and make up run through for her bridal portrait. We had flowers left over from the bouquet we made for her portrait session and she requested something to add to her hair… She liked it so much that she wanted it for her wedding day hair as well.
