Soiree and the City

This weekend we were all in our New York office for client meetings and to attend the gift show to find great new things for our upcoming events.  While I can’t show pics of our new stuff, there were some items along the way that we were inspired by, drooled over, and thought were down right clever!

A tip for brides looking for ideas- the hot thing we saw this year were Wings!  As in angel wings – everywhere- gilted gold ones, vintagey ones, even humongous ones to use in architectural projects…

this took old mixmatched tea cups and silver spoons and created a shabby chic chandelier

The black and white colors and shape of the old door hardware I think actually makes this a pretty sophisticated light fixture

this one was definitely a statement piece, 3 tiers, all silver spoons, and love the exposed rustic brass lighting filament

old door knobs on top of balsa wood boxes make for a super cute cake focal point

soften this up with some flowers, maybe some antique votives for a soft glow, and maybe a custom cake topper, and how beautiful would this be for a vintage wedding look?

this had me on my hands and knees, it’s a Shagreen (stingray skin) jewelry box with amazing enamel bird applique

We also got to hang with our extraordinarily entertaining and talented friend Marcy Blum on Saturday night.. We headed to her home in Brooklyn for supper, did you know that she attended the Culinary Institute of American in Hyde Park, New York and was in the restaurant industry before she began planning lavish celebrity weddings?  Dinner was divine! Joining us also was Anne Chertoff (formally of Martha Stewart Weddings, and Brides.com who is now heading up the new relaunch of the aisledash.com blogsite launching in March), Liene Stevens of Splendid Communications, whose blog post this week features an interview with Marcy (thank you for all of the tips on social media marketing- we are new to Twitter and still learning- follow us at @TGuerardSoiree), and Vane Broussard of Brooklyn Bride blog, of which I’ve been a fan of for quite some time…

Tara’s Tidbits

It’s amazing to me going through the Gift Shows/Markets at how much junk there is out there, but I also love seeing what’s new out there, and every now and then a hidden gem.  When I saw this Shagreen clutch bag it blew me away.. how glamourous!  With weddings taking a much simpler approach these days, little amazing details like a great bag instead of a way over the top dress really make a difference.
