Fabulous Finds Friday

It’s “Fabulous Finds Friday” here on the Bon Bon Blog and I want to know…what do you think is fabulous??? I would love to hear what you think is new and fresh. To get your creative minds thinking…I will start you out with a find that I am loving right now! Charleston local Adam Fetsch is combining two of my favorite things, wine and candles, into a creative new green initiative concept. Rewined Candles partners with local restaurants to take their discarded wine bottles and use them as vessels for beautiful soy candles.

Adam customizes the labels on the candles to look like vintage wine labels. The wine varietal scents are all so amazing! I have the “Chardonnay” candle in my bedroom at home, and Erin in my office loves the “Pinot Noir.” We are collaborating with Adam in the fall to make miniature versions of these candles to go into guest bags of one of our couples who happen to be wine aficionados. How great is that?

Now it’s your turn. To get you involved, I will give away a copy of my book, Weddings by Tara Guerard, to the person who posts the most fun new find by next Friday.

Happy hunting! I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I wasn’t sure where to post my “fabulous find,” so I thought email would be best! My incredibly talented fiance, Adam Carlos, is a portrait artist and the bulk of his work is children and pets. His medium is graphite pencil so he can achieve incredible detail and also not charge the typical oil portrait prices. His portraits are also a bit more versatile than traditional oils—they are less “dressy” and can go in any room of the house ( as opposed to oils, which are limited to formal rooms and over the mantle). I think his pet portraits would make an amazing wedding gift from bride to groom or vice versa (or from parent to couple). Adam and I love our dogs so much, so we know how special it would be to receive a gift like this. If a couple was getting married and there were children involved from a previous wedding, I think a children’s portrait would be an amazing gift too. Or, a few years down the road when couples have children of their own, a portrait would be an incredible gift for an anniversary (he does a lot of anniversary gifts!)

Here is his website: handsofmusic.com and his email is adam.w.carlos@gmail.com

I know this is a shameless plug for my sweet fiance, but he deserves all the accolades he can get! Thanks yall!

After looking through your son’s birthday party pictures it reminded me of a really unique way to keep ice cream cold at events! I saw an event that had an ice cream bar set up with a long piece of ice. The ice had indentions cut in it to hold each container of ice cream. Not only was it a beautiful display, but it was also very functional in keeping the ice cream cold. I tried to find a picture of the actual ice cream bar but couldn’t. This picture is the same idea but with liquor instead. http://www.foodgps.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/KGB-Vodka.jpg
