New York State of Mind- Pt. 2 (The Food Post)

One of the best things about going to NYC with Tara is that she loves to try out different restaurants. She carries her Zagat Guide like a bible in this city!! She has her favorite spots that she will go back to but is always looking for a new place to test out. Being a foodie myself, I was definitely up for anything she wanted to try! Something you may not know about Tara is that she looooves Dim Sum. When I mentioned I had never had authentic Dim Sum we had to go there first! In between meetings we made time for a tea and chopsticks. We weren’t able to make it to Chinatown proper, but Tara found a good little spot close to our next meeting. Loved the dragon light fixtures!!

Of course, every dim sum dish we tried was super tasty. I practically had to roll myself out of this restaurant!

Another thing Tara loves is old-school Italian joints. Nothing fancy, just a white table cloth and a verbalized menu spoken to you by a waiter with an authentic Italian accent. That’s exactly what we found when we went to Acappella. We had great company as well! One of our vendors that we’ve worked with for YEARS but never met face-to-face was able to join us. We had such a big time!! Practically everything was prepared table side (told you it was old school) and served with copious doilies on the plate. Tara just adores paper doilies! Haha!!!!

I was already a fan of the Greenwich Hotel, but something that made it even better is that right in the hotel is the amazing restaurant, Lacanda Verde. This causal eatery serves up some delicious dishes and from what I can tell, there is always a wait to be seated! We sat at the bar and ordered the house-made papparadelle pasta…so stinking good. But I think the kicker was the brussel sprouts. If you don’t like this veggie I suggest covering it in fresh parmesan and pancetta. You will become a believer!

This was our last meal before we left NYC…or so we thought…stay tuned to find out how Soirettes roll when you get stuck in the city!
