We are so excited to congratulate our former bride Dr. Dendy Engelman on her story in New Beauty’s Winter-Spring 2015 Issue! Dr. Engelman’s practice, Manhattan Dermatology and Cosmetic Surgery, is known for its therapeutic treatment and personalized and exclusive environment. It integrates skin care, technology and medical procedures into top-notch service. Pick up a copy to get a first hand look at our Soirée bride in action!
We took a few minutes to ask Dendy about some of her exclusive services, her skincare advice for brides to be, and some of her favorite wedding planning memories with the Soirée team:
Is OxyLight something you offer exclusively at your practice?
Yes. We are currently the only office in Manhattan who has this device.
What is special about OxyLight?
Thanks in part to the advances in light and oxygen technologies, OxyLight offers state-of-the-art technology that transforms skin without discomfort or recovery time. It provides the ultimate combination of skin therapy treatments such as Diamond microdermabrasion, Oxygen therapy, Micro-current stimulation with Light Therapy, Ultrasound with full spectrum LED, Lymphatic Drainage, Oxygen with light therapy, and Negative pressure massage. It is ideal for fine lines, acne, hyperpigmentation, enlarged and clogged pores, pre and post surgery, muscle toning, lymphatic massage, tightening of the skin, anti-aging, and post-laser procedures.
What are the most popular services you provide?
- Lasers – for the correction of brown spots, anti-aging
- Dermal fillers – lips, smile lines, mid face augmentation, fine lines
- Neurotoxins – to soften crow’s feet, frown lines
- Facial peels – helps improve skin texture and tone and give skin a wedding day glow
What type of skin care regime would you recommend to brides leading up to their wedding day?
I recommend meeting with a dermatologist at least six months before their big day in order to undergo a thorough skin assessment. This will allow brides to discuss areas of concern and establish an individually tailored skin care treatment regimen. This time frame provides ample time to reach her aesthetic goals. Depending on the bride’s skin type and problem areas, a specific regimen can be prescribed to have brides looking their absolute best on their special day.
For general advice on a healthy pre-wedding skin care routine, I would recommend the following:
AM: gentle cleanser (ex: Cetaphil), topical antioxidant serum (ex: Skinceuticals CE Ferulic), SPF 30 or higher
PM: gentle cleanser, retinol (ex: ROC with retinol) or prescription retinoid (if tolerated), anti-aging serum (ex: Nugene Universal Serum), night cream (ex: Natura Bisse)
What part of the wedding planning process with Soirée was the most fun?
Everything about Tara is fun! Her energy is contagious and her vision for all things beautiful and unique is unparalleled. We loved watching Tara’s creativity come to fruition and her commitment to a beautiful wedding production is unsurpassed.
We had so much fun planning Dendy’s wedding in 2011. She was a stunning bride and we loved working with her photographer Gayle Brooker! The ceremony at St. Paul’s church in Summerville (where her grandparents were married) was followed by a beautiful reception at the restored Charleston estate, The Woodlan’s Inn. Congratulations again, Dendy!
