All in the Details…

Sorry for the bad scan job on my previous post, All in the Family. Here is a better look at Latashia and Melvin’s Charleston wedding, and some of their great details with the Greek Key theme.

The invitations started the theme of the greek key. We printed our greek key pattern on plain paper to use everywhere- an inexpensive way to customize your event! The children’s table had boxes of goodies with their name tags also doubling as place cards.

A ceremony guest with the program; The father of the bride’s boutonierre; custom wrapped candy bars with their logo and the phrase “Sweet Thang”.

The lounge furniture was dressed up lavendar pillows to bring in some color; a view of the reception/dinner room. We created different spaces to make it seem more intimate and hung our own lamps to not have to use all of the overhead lights.

Pew markers were boxes we made out of the green key paper with flowers from the ceremony; we cut little squares out of the paper to use dress up the food items; the children’s boxes were full of candy, coloring books and crayons, and other small toys to keep the children busy during dinner.

Halloweens Past

Thank you to Abby Larson of Style Me Pretty for this great pre-Halloween post. Carter and Fred were one of my favorite couples to work with, and how fun for them and their guests to play up their Halloween rehearsal dinner.

Tara’s Tidbits

We are SO excited to have the first glimpse at our new book, Weddings by Tara Guerard. We have our advance copy in hands and must say that is a gorgeous labor of love that we are so proud of. It will be available in large retailers, amazon.com, and other stores after the first of the year… But, we are planning on doing a few book signings in Charleston and in New York before Christmas, so we’ll keep you posted so that you can get your hands on an early copy too! Be sure to check back for updates on book signing events.

I’m also really looking forward to my trip to San Francisco in March to be a speaker at the Wedding 360 event. It’s going be an amazing event at the St. Regis, with four wedding experts (myself, Rebecca Grinnals of Engaging Concepts, and Sean Low of the Business of Being Creative) dolling out all kinds of great advice. Of course we’ll have tons of details to share…

And, I’m also thrilled to have been asked by Rebecca Grinnals to speak at the 2010 Engage event at the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach. This year’s event in the Grand Caymans gave me a chance to schmooze with the who’s who in the industry and gain valuable insight into the way of event business on a whole as well as trends in design and planning tips.

Always a Bridesmaid…

LulaKate (based right here in Charleston) is one of the best resources for fun- yes you CAN wear them again, and not your typical bridesmaids dresses! She recently styled a photo shoot at some local venues to show off some of her new line… I love the looks and colors she chose. The other awesome thing about LulaKate is that there are all kinds of party dresses from bridal, to fun short rehearsal dinner dresses, engagement parties, etc. You can also find her bridesmaid line at Bella Bridesmaids nationwide.
