Well we couldn’t be more excited that it is Friday because that means it is only one more day until we get to work with amazing photographer and our good friend, Virgil Bunao.
If you don’t know Virgil…you need to!! He is only a super talented photographer in the Charleston area. As you all know, we love an old-school film photographer and Vigil does not dissappoint. What you may not know is that Virgil recently began shooting 8 millimeter film as well (aka Super 8). Check out the vintage camera he shoots with in this pic!
Super 8 is a motion picture film format released by Kodak in 1965 as a cost effective solution for amateur filmmakers to document special moments of family life. When we asked Virgil to try to explain what Super 8 is, he mentioned the hit show “The Wonder Years.” We totally got it. Virgil says, “The Wonders Years is a perfect illustration of home movies in the 1970s- real, honest, off-color documentary recordings of special moments with a sense of nostalgia. When we watch Super 8 movies from the 70s or from a recent wedding, even if it’s only a 2-minute clip, the film, (or more like, the moments capture) speaks volume. Canon stopped making Super 8 cameras. A vast majority of Super 8 cameras are obsolete. They are not supported by the manufacturers. Therefore, the film these days are silent.”
Intrigued?? I promise he doesn’t disappoint! Virgil and his team captured our adorable couple, Crystal and Matt, while they shot their engagement portraits. The result is priceless! Check out the link here to see the full video. We will be sure to update you all with more photos and videos after working with Virgil this weekend. Stay tuned!!
