After showing you the fab wedding of Lawton and Eric last week, I wanted to show you shots from their rehearsal dinner as well.
Mostly because they had it at my favorite “special occasion” restaurant in Charleston- The Charleston Grill (I was lucky enough to have an amazing dinner with friends there on Friday night). You are able to buy out the entire restaurant for a private party (not just a separate private room), giving you access the Executive Chef, the top of the line service (including the famous, Mickey Bakst), and means you have to do very little for decor. Great idea for a wedding for those who love sharing great food and wine with friends and family and don’t want too much fuss.
Another one of Charleston’s higher end spots, The Peninsula Grill can also host intimate dinners, and smaller weddings and have a couple of different options space wise for your choosing… Here is one we did a few years ago, that still sticks out to me.
Book Review out of Atlanta
We were thrilled to see this review of Southern Weddings recently out of Atlanta (my home town)… Looks great for book number two out this December!
Southern Weddings
by Tara Guérard with photography by Liz
Barfield and Adrienne Page
Layton, Utah: Wyrick & Co., an imprint of
Gibbs Smith, 2007, 184 pages
Southern Weddings is an interesting look at
twelve events planned by wedding designer
Tara Guérard. Unless you are on the guest list of the couples who
can rent a centuries-old plantation house on Spring Island, S.C.,
you might not otherwise get a peek at these sumptuous celebrations.
The book will give you plenty of ideas for something similar at a
well-heeled location in Cumming, Alpharetta, Roswell, or the like.
Whether your budget is fit for a princess, or spartan, the overview and
details that Guérard shares will inspire you.
Each chapter covers one wedding with beautiful photo spreads,
including close-ups on the details. The weddings vary from an
outdoor celebration to a small restaurant setting. Each wedding
overview has a “Soirée Step by Step” section to show how various
custom elements were built. “Soirée Secrets” describes all sorts of tips
and tricks—ways to save money, how break the rules, and how to
keep them, with a modern twist. “Signature Elements” describes five
or six details on how the theme was carried throughout each wedding.
The book has a contact list with websites and phone numbers of the
resources used by Tara Guérard and her company, Soirée.
Lettered Olive baby news!
Congratulations to Martha (from The Lettered Olive) and Jon Robbins, who welcomed their first daughter, Jane Gardner on August 24th. Mom and baby are well!
Here are some shots from Martha and Jon’s wedding, where it all began! Again, held at the couple’s favorite local restaurant, La Forchette.
Tara’s Tidbits
Recently I’ve decide to up the ante and TRY Triathlons… I just completed the first one in North Carolina, and learned that not only is there physical strain involved, but it’s so high maintenance as well! You have to remember a helmet (which I forgot), find a bathing suit that you can and bike in, running clothes that you can swim and bike in, bucket to wash your feet, etc- whew! I was proud that I made it, but made me realize how much preparation and training is needed for my next one!
Congrats Martha and Jon on your beautiful little girl
