One of the best things about going to NYC with Tara is that she loves to try out different restaurants. She carries her Zagat Guide like a bible in this city!! She has her favorite spots that she will go back to but is always looking for a new place to test out. Being a foodie myself, I was definitely up for anything she wanted to try! Something you may not know about Tara is that she looooves Dim Sum. When I mentioned I had never had authentic Dim Sum we had to go there first! In between meetings we made time for a tea and chopsticks. We weren’t able to make it to Chinatown proper, but Tara found a good little spot close to our next meeting. Loved the dragon light fixtures!!

Of course, every dim sum dish we tried was super tasty. I practically had to roll myself out of this restaurant!

Another thing Tara loves is old-school Italian joints. Nothing fancy, just a white table cloth and a verbalized menu spoken to you by a waiter with an authentic Italian accent. That’s exactly what we found when we went to Acappella. We had great company as well! One of our vendors that we’ve worked with for YEARS but never met face-to-face was able to join us. We had such a big time!! Practically everything was prepared table side (told you it was old school) and served with copious doilies on the plate. Tara just adores paper doilies! Haha!!!!

Tara’ s dessert with 3 doilies on the plate

I was already a fan of the Greenwich Hotel, but something that made it even better is that right in the hotel is the amazing restaurant, Lacanda Verde. This causal eatery serves up some delicious dishes and from what I can tell, there is always a wait to be seated! We sat at the bar and ordered the house-made papparadelle pasta…so stinking good. But I think the kicker was the brussel sprouts. If you don’t like this veggie I suggest covering it in fresh parmesan and pancetta. You will become a believer!

This was our last meal before we left NYC…or so we thought…stay tuned to find out how Soirettes roll when you get stuck in the city!

Happy Wednesday Everyone! I’ve been excited to share some pics with you from my last trip to NYC with Tara. I’m going to split it up into a couple of posts…so stay tuned for more!! This was my first official Soiree trip up to see the office and meet with our clients. If you can believe it, 4 of our brides are New Yorkers! So having the NYC office makes it super convenient to meet with them on their home turf. Our office is located on the 23rd floor of a building in the flower district.

When we got there our good friend, Julie Sabatino, from The  Stylish Bride had the office decked out for a surprise baby shower for Tara! So sweet of her. Who doesn’t love champagne and cupcakes in the afternoon?? It was so nice to catch up with her and meet some fabulous women in our industry that stopped by to celebrate with us. Darcy Miller was there and gave Tara one of her custom illustrations along with her gift…she is so talented!!

During the festivities I was able to snap this pic out of our window. Not a shabby view!!

Afterwards we retired back to to Tara’s home away from home, The Greenwich Hotel. Tara is always gushing over how much she loves this tucked away retreat in the Tribeca neighborhood and I was so excited to get to stay there. She really wasn’t exaggerating…this place is so fab. The design and decor make it feel so homey while still elegant and luxurious. Plus our old friend Sam works here so added bonus to get to see him!! Love the bar area…so cozey!

Plus the underground spa and pool are such an added bonus.

I would love to rip out everything in my bathroom and replace it with gorgeous navy and white tiles like in our room at Greenwich

Ok…now you’ve seen our office and abode…on Friday I will share more!

Try saying that 3 times fast! Ha! The Garden & Gun Gift Guide isn’t really a tongue twister…it’s a collective gold mine of perfect holiday gifts. You can find something for everyone on your list (even the person that already has evvvvvverything) with these unique items. Best of all, they are all Southern inspired artists, craftsmen or boutiques. I’m thinking the Pierrepont Hicks camel hair neck tie would be great for my dad.

And my pup would love napping on these See Scout Sleep dog beds! Added bonus is that a portion of sales on these beds goes to aid gulf relief efforts.

But what we were most excited to see on the list were the Lettered Olive Surci Tags! Of course we are a little biased, but we think these lettered pressed tags are the perfect hostess gift. These tags complement all types of gifts so don’t just tie them to a bottle of wine! Set your adorned gift on a table and watch them become an instant conversation starter.

Be sure to check out Garden & Gun’s website for their whole list. They did an amazing job picking out such versatile items. Consider my shopping done!
