Mary Norton is a local celeb here in Charleston. On top of all that, she is one of the most genuine people we have ever met! If you haven’t met her, you should know that in 1998, after having a dream that inspired her, Mary decided to design a handbag. After designing a few, they gained swift popularity. Fast forward a few years and her company, MOOROO, is designing bags, scarves and pins for locals as well as celebrities!  Later creating a new line called simply “Mary Norton“, Mary’s career has unfolded into a brand all her own. And we couldn’t be more happy for her!

What does this have to do with weddings you may ask? I will tell you! Mary recently decided to lend her talents to designing custom hair pieces and head bands for the world of bridal. She brought some samples by our office to see and the are just so pretty. With intricate beading, needle work and attention to details, these gems would make any bride want to lose the veil and go with these instead! However, we could also see them as a great switch over into the reception when a bride wants to take the veil off. Here are a few pictures I snapped just to share with you! Be sure to check out their website to see all the many things Mary is up to at the moment!

Garters have gotten a bad rap lately. And it’s really not their fault…maybe things started going downhill for them in the 80’s when short dresses made garters all too visible? I’m not sure, but one thing I do know is that cheap materials and embarrassing garter tosses have lessened the class of the garter.

Enter Sarah Dobson. Starting from a hobby gifting custom garters to friends, Sarah quickly realized the lack of elegance in this intimate undergarment. Sarah began creating garters out of vintage fabrics and laces and adorning them with pearls, crystals and brooches. Able to launch her hobby into a full business in 2009, La Gartier became a new standard in wedding garters.

Not all brides opt to wear a garter. But for those who are looking for a unique piece that complements their style then a custom order from La Gartier might just be the thing! I do like this hand sewn silk flower applique:

And the bride that loves vintage might opt for a pearl brooch or cameo:

Blush tones are really big in bridal right now and that is also transcending into garters as well:

What do you think readers? Are you a garter wearing kind of bride? If so then I definitely recommend a piece from La Gartier!

Happy Friday Y’all! Today is the day for fabulousness and I definitely have something for you. Christine, who manages The Lettered Olive, stumbled across Chewing the Cud while we were researching new fun ideas for a baby shower for Kate.

Our baby shower location was on Folly Beach and we were looking for items that went with our beachy, laid-back feel for the party. Working with tangerine and ocean blue as our colors, we fell in love with Chewing the Cud’s eco-friendly Give Wraps. These chic fabric wraps are large enough to cover many different sized gifts and can be reused over and over again! These little wraps are so versatile that we used them throughout the party…wrapping presents, tied on chairs and as favors for the guests as they left! They were such a hit that we had to share them with you. They come in so many styles but here are some images of the ones we used for the shower. Visit their website for all the different options!

We used the Tangerine and Blue of course!

Side note- we will announce the winner of our Fabulous Finds entry on Monday…still taking new finds through today so keep them coming!
