Pantone_Color_of_the_Year_Rose_Quartz_Serenity_Color_Formulas_Guides_Banner

Happy New Year! Every year, Pantone introduces their choice for “Color of the Year”. This year they are blending two colors- Serenity and Rose Quartz for a soft and lovely combination. I’m sharing details from one of our weddings that brought these colors together!

A new interpretation of traditional pink and blue becomes a perfect wedding palette. These colors individually are long time popular choice of brides, but it’s also wise since shades of pinks and lavenders are complimentary to every skin tone and evoke pleasant and happy emotion- just what you want on your wedding day!

A wrist corsage is a a perfect alternative to corsages or nosegays for mothers, grandmothers, greeters, or other special attendants. We take a beautiful bloom and tie luxurious double sided satin ribbon to a small stem. It’s perfect for not poking holes in their couture or for those not wanting to carry something along with a purse.

Our precious handmade ring bearer pillow with the ring bearers’ boutonierre is a perfect palette of the Pantone colors.

The colors help produce a soft, pretty, but elegant showcase for the wedding dinner place settings.

But, transition into a dramatic backdrop for the after dinner party..

A great way to use your chosen color palette throughout your event is in lighting. It’s affordable and a great way to bring in colors that may be hard to accomplish in flowers or textiles.

Tara Guerard Soiree by Liz Banfield

I could not think of a more perfect way to spend New Year’s than at a lovely dinner party followed by dancing- i.e. you are close friends or family and someone is having their wedding or rehearsal dinner and you’re invited!  You get to dress up, go celebrate with loved ones, and not spend a dime, pretty perfect, don’t you think?  This sweet couple celebrated New Year’s at the Capital Hotel in Little Rock, Arkansas on the eve of their wedding with a fabulous three course dinner followed by dancing in the ballroom decked out for a New Year’s bash. Thank you to Liz Banfield for the photos.

Dinner menus were etched on clear acrylic cards placed at each seat. Sometimes working with the already in place hotel decor can be somewhat challenging but with a black, white, silver, and gold New Year’s theme, it worked out!

Place cards were attached to each chair so that the acrylic menus took front and center at each place setting. Tying them with festive silver fringe added to the New Year’s theme!

I loved the killer silver fringe chandeliers we made for the occasion. They made for a perfect twinkling touch inside a hotel ballroom. Which, did have this intricate and lovely latticework on the walls and ceiling which was so unique, we lucked out with that design element!

Of course, Veuve was flowing throughout the night, and all of the proper accoutrements were supplied in the party colors; everyone was decked out in New Year’s gear for the midnight countdown.

Tara Guerard SoireeThe couple rang in the New Year that would bring them a new start as husband and wife, a new home together, and many other personal accomplishments. I’d say that’s a great way to kick off a wedding weekend and a New Year!

Happy New Year to everyone and may 2016 bring a year full of health and happiness.

Tara Guerard Soiree wedding by Corbin Gurkin

As 2015 comes to an end, I’m reflecting on what can only be described as an amazing year. Amazing clients, amazing venues and locations, amazing photographers, and amazing feats performed by the Soirettes. I’m sharing a little snippett or two from each wedding and look forward to what 2016 brings! Our first photo is from a wedding in Aspen, Colorado shot by Corbin Gurkin.  I truly appreciate the change in scenery that the mountain backdrop offered us, and we were able to embrace different design elements that we are often reinventing at our coastal venues.

This fun, funny, and vivacious couple had a truly reflective and personal wedding at Palmetto Bluff in Bluffton, SC. There are so many charming details at this venue alone and throw in a couple full of personality and it made for a perfectly charming event. We’ll be featuring more from this wedding shot by Perry Vaile in the new year on a Wedding Wednesday.

Liz Banfield joined us for this simply elegant affair in Sea Island, Ga. An iconically classic location lent beautiful scenery to this sweet couple as they celebrated with friends and family. We always love being at Sea Island.

A celebration at the brides’ family home in Greenville, SC was a fabulous way to start off the year. I can’t wait to share more of this wedding when we are able to, Corbin’s photos are amazing as always.

Brief showers during a cocktail hour provided for some sweet shots by Elizabeth Messina. This affair overlooking the water at Lowndes Grove Plantation included a satellite bar on a deep water dock on the Ashley River.

This bride (one half of design house Dee Hutton) designed and created her own wedding dress. With a flair for the dramatic, a fitting fete at Fenwick Plantation outside of Charleston was the perfect place for this dress to make it’s debut. Look out for a feature on this wedding in Brides Magazine in the new year.
