This sweet couple celebrated their marriage with a traditional Jewish affair surrounded by friends and family on Runnymede Plantation. We had worked with the groom’s mother on his sister’s wedding, and other affairs, so it was even more special getting to know these two as a couple. Navy, silver, and white was a great color palette for the time of year as they allowed for big impacts in creating a formal and traditional affair. All photos by Squire Fox.
Lettered Olive worked with the couple to create a custom monogram (both of their first names start with “J”), and a navy and white pattern to add dimension to their design.
Runnymede Plantation is one of our favorite Lowcountry event locations. There is a lot of space for us to create whatever we want for our clients, and jawdropping river and natural views. We designed this sign for the entrance to the plantation for easy guest traveling.
There were lots of special accessories for the bride. We embroidered her bouquet ribbon with the new monogram; an heirloom handkerchief was embroidered and gifted to the bride, and she carried her family’s antique prayer book. For her something blue, the wedding details were embroidered to the inside of her dress.
A custom card with the length of time they had been together accompanied the groom’s gift to the bride- I really loved this sweet sentiment.
Anenomes were the perfect bloom for the navy and white color scheme, and full and lush garden roses and ranunculus filled out a bridal bouquet.
This couple elected to do a “first sight” moment with the two of them before the ceremony.
A table was set with Yarmulkes and cards for guests to write wishes to the couple as they were waiting to be seated for the ceremony.
Large urns of magnolia branches fashioned in urns lined the aisle leading to the magnolia branch chuppa. A family piece was used to create the chuppa topper.
The couple and family celebrated the marriage with a traditional Bedeken ceremony after the wedding.
Tree branches made for a lovely and “natural” design element for the dinner escort cards.
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour in living room sets overlooking the river banks.
The dining room was set with a glamorous vibe. Silver suede linens made for a cozy and upscale fall feel, and platinum banded china and crystal were a beautiful background for dinner.
The dining room glowed with a masse of candles… A Traditional Challah cutting took place at the head table.
The wedding cake and many kosher dessert stations were set and served throughout the after dinner lounge.
An outside lounge was built off of the dinner and dancing tent for guests to enjoy dance breaks under the stars.
The couple departed to sparklers and a fireworks display… Mazel Tov!
Summerville, SC is a town steeped in Southern tradition and history. After moving to Manhattan, and becoming celebrity dermatologist and skin care consultant for Elizabeth Arden, Dr. Oz, People Magazine, etc Dr. Dendy Engleman met her dream man. He popped the question, and they headed South where she wanted to share her hometown with her nearest and dearest. Thank you Gayle Brooker for the gorgeous photos.
The ceremony took place at her childhood congregation, a classic Episcopalian church outside the Historic district.
The bride really wanted to bring in a modern perspective representing her life in New York to play against the traditional feel typically seen growing up in Summerville. A bold green and warm chocolate color palette was selected and lots of natural elements like greenery, branches, dried lentils, mosses, and berries were used throughout.
Orchids in the greens and browns used throughout compliment the bridal bouquet cascading and lush with branches, berries, and orchids in different varietals.
Simple potted phalenopsis orchids in moss covered pots were the perfect centerpieces for the cocktail tables covered in green and chocolate silk scattered amongst the lawn.
Signature drink for a couple living in New York but marrying in South Carolina? Manhattans, obvi.
The wedding cake by Jim Smeal was a stunning centerpiece in the tent. The tiers were accented by hand made samples of lace from the bride’s dress, and a custom icing monogram designed by Soiree and Lettered Olive.
The dance tent and lounge were modeled after some of the couples favorite Manhattan clubs, but with wedding elegance of course! My favorite is a clear top tent which allows the space to feel bigger and more open but the temperature has to be just right (can you say greenhouse chic??)
Had to make one of our signature bars, of course. Tops were custom wood to keep in line with the fall design and the couples monogram designed by Lettered Olive was used on banners to decorate large spaces like this bar, pillows in the lounge, printed items, and the cake. The most important thing though is that it’s accessible from many angles for many people- NO LINES!
The Woodlands Resort was a classically elegant 5 star resort with amazing architecture and equally amazing food (it’s since closed and become a private home). We added some draping and lighting to the exterior for some drama which kinda ended up being a scene stealer.
The knockout couple ended their evening (after a quick change by the bride into a going away shortie dress) with a traditional rice toss before heading off into married life together.
