There are many long standing traditions at weddings that brides still employ… Here are just a few that we’ve seen honored over the years.

We have many brides that are seeking something new and different beyond a string quartet, dj, or live dance band to play a special song or tribute to someone or something on their wedding day. Maybe it’s a piece from their heritage or a type of musician they were exposed to growing up.  At any rate, we love helping bring these wishes to reality.  Here are just some of the interesting variations we have been lucky to work with over the years.

Charleston is experiencing quite the boom thanks to all of the kudos from magazines like Travel + Leisure and Conde Nast. We have had many charming hotels, inns, and B&B’s over the years and people have their favorites. But, there are some new or newish spots beginning to make their mark in the city. We have over the years had many brides interested in renting out entire hotels for their guests and then to also host many of their weekend events and it hasn’t quite been a reality just yet until the new rennovated Restoration Hotel opens this fall. It’s also a fabulous option for bachelorette parties, or places for all of the wedding party and family to stay during the wedding weekend.  They are rennovating, redecorating, and adding a ton of space.

expansion

They are adding a Rooftop restaurant “The Watch” with terrace- this will include private dining space inside and out for events (for about 50 guests), a rooftop bar “The Observatory”, Spa treatment rooms with nail spa, a relaxation pool, and an in house library with cozy fireplace that will have a fully staffed librarian and Assouline book collection. There are also 2 large suites with outdoor space where the chef can prepare a private dinner for you and guests (about 30 guests).  This is the view from the current Terrace which is also available for parties (for 100+ ppl).

I love the emphasis on local artisans as well.. All of the outdoor garden space is being designed by famed landscape architect, Sheila Wertimer, the interior will feature local landscapes by photographer Gately Williams, and the new coffee shop addition will feature treats by local Glazed Donuts, Cupcake Down South, Macaroon Boutique, and yummy Callie’s Biscuits.

I can see bringing in a lovely long table and beautiful lighting  for a bridal shower, bridal luncheon, or smaller rehearsal dinner in this quaint little semi private garden space.

There is a gracious mix of original and modern in the space and this will continue to be emphasized in the rennovation. Lots of exposed brick where you can see original staircase footprints, amazing old wood floors and beams some dating back to the 1800’s. There will be room options for all scenarios- 2/3 bedroom suites with kitchenettes for groups and families, chic loft spaces for friends or couples, all getting a fresh new fluff and many with private outdoor space. Breakfast is delivered every day in a picnic basket (which you can also order to go for a lowcountry excursion), and Martone bikes will be available for exploring downtown Charleston.
