I’ve known lighting designer Ann Yancy for many years now….Her company, Ro Sham Beaux creates beautiful custom lighting fixtures and furniture to the trade and was even recently picked up by Calypso Home (collection coming in the next few weeks). You can also visit her first retail store at 39 Broad Street in Charleston, SC.  Here’s a sneak peek inside…

Here’s how we’ve used her lights for several of our events.

These jute twine sconces were perfect for this formal but laid back lounge tent, having them on dimmers made them provide perfect ambient lighting throughout the entire day into night.

When we found the perfect seersucker fabric to match our Southern summer wedding in Alabama, we grabbed it and sent onto Ann who make them into these  fabulous oversized shades.

We had Ann make these overhead lampshades in fabric used throughout this gold and eggplant colored wedding.

When we’re in the city, we’re usually running from meeting to meeting, or photo shoots, sourcing stuff for upcoming events, etc but I really try to squeeze in time to check out a new restaurant.

This time I hit ABC Cocina– the Jean Georges spot inside ABC Carpet & Home. I helped work on Jean Georges’ wedding years ago, so I’m a big fan!

My highlights from the menu were:

unnamed

The raw shaved brussels sprouts salad, with vermont shepherd cheese and marcona almonds (I’ve always loved brussels sprouts, and these were divine!!). Also, the charred octopus with smoked paprika creme fraiche and guajillo vinaigrette, and the maitake mushrooms with goat cheese, fresno pepper vinaigrette.

Next time you are in the City, you must check it out!

Designer Lee Kleinhelter has been at the helm of her store pieces for nearly ten years now, bringing customers her signature mix of vintage and modern design elements both online and in her Atlanta-based shop. We were thrilled to do her baby shower a few years ago and invited her to share some of her coveted design tips with Bon Bon blog readers today.

When it comes to putting a room together, you really have that special sauce that makes a room go from just okay to pretty freaking incredible. What are some tips mixing different types of furniture to get the perfect combination?

I love to mix vintage and new together. If pieces are too matchy, matchy the a space will quickly become boring. Using texture in wall covering or fabrics is an easy and fun way to enhance a space too.

It’s amazing that readers can actually shop your aesthetic from your store Pieces in Atlanta and also from your online store. How do you decide that a certain item has to go in your shop? And where do you look for your merchandise?

We hunt all over for our pieces. We like to add pieces to the store that you can’t find anywhere else. Our customers love having a one of a kind piece.

What are some of the most popular pieces in your store and how do you think that translates to current design trends?

Our Custom Lucite Lacquer Desk continues to be one of our top sellers. We ship these out weekly to customer all over. The clean lines and chic lucite panels makes it perfect for any space. Anything lucite is hot right now.

You know that we believe that #lifeisaparty so what are some ways to have fun with your decor and keep it from feeling too unapproachable?

I always love to put a punch of color in our design projects. Adding color to small pieces like pillows or accessories is an easy way to liven up a space but does not stop you from being able to change it out.

As a Southern powerhouse, we’re sure you have some tried and true entertaining tips. Any that you’d be willing to share?

My style is consistent whether it be installing a project or setting up for a party. Always be eye catching but don’t over do it. Less is more.

Lastly, any Pieces news or collaborations in the works that you want to tell us about?

We have lots of exciting design projects in the works. This month we are doing a social media contest to win free design time. All you have to do is share a Pieces design project on social media and use #piecesdesigns. Check out Piecesinc.com for more details! We love putting the look of Pieces into our clients’ homes.
