Yesterday we talked about the fabulous new Spectator Hotel here in Charleston, SC. The property’s interior designer, Jenny Keenan just happens to be one of my brides! Flashing back to all of the fun details from her gerber daisy themed Drayton Hall wedding.
Drayton Hall Plantation, part of the National Trust for Historic Preservation is my all time favorite wedding site. Unfortunately for us, they don’t allow weddings anymore.
The mixture of the gerbers, lily of the valley, and and tea roses gives this all white bouquet dimension and texture.
There is a beautiful grand old oak adjacent to the plantation house that overlooks a pond making it a perfect ceremony spot.
We love trying to find easy and simple ways to give some of the more ordinary items a custom look (great way to stretch your budget). And, having baskets of plain white umbrellas for guests to use as shade or rain is a really special touch and looks cute in photos!
Gerber daisies come in some many different shades, and since we were able to bring in a lot of color for this wedding, they made the perfect bloom for the 12 bridesmaids’ bouquets.
The image captured here by Liz Banfield makes me think they are a celebrity couple caught in a moment… I hope they have this photo framed in their home, it’s lovely!
A sweet young flower girl and bridesmaid anxiously await their walk down the aisle. We housed the bride and bridal party in the old plantation house so that that could be their backdrop as they walked down the aisle.
For a reception this size, the concept of food stations was a better fit… But, we still like to make them stand out and be as gracious for guests as possible.
One of signatures is always coming up with a new and different “guest book”… This basket is easily able to fit into the couple’s home and I hope they are still reading the notes over a glass of wine years later!
Gerbers are such a hearty flower, we were able to use the heads and glue them to a plain lampshade over the dining nooks.
Sparklers for the couples’ send off are displayed in gerber daisy heads on trays of rye grass that we grew for the event.
The sure sign of a successful evening is a couple dancing and having fun together!
