Happy Wedding Wednesday Y’all!  I hope you’re having a great week so far and I have a few “Bright Ideas” to inspire you when planning your wedding day.  Beautiful details are key, they are a must when planning your big day.  Make certain you incorporate your personalities and always make the details “your own” and remember, it’s fun to do the unexpected.  Why not add a “pop of color”?  At this wedding, we mixed bright oranges and pinks together.  These color combinations are so cheerful and they will totally be a surprise to your guests.

Let’s start with a lush bouquet of beautiful pink parrot tulips and peonies.

And, of course, we gave the groom a matching boutonniere.

Consider having a birdcage dangle from a tree limb by the front door so that your guests could drop their wishes inside.  We simply gathered notes at the end of the evening and made a traditional guest book for the bride and groom.

Avoid long lines at large weddings and give your guests a chance to write wishes while waiting for the ceremony to start.  We filled little mesh bags with a pen, a card to write wishes on, rose petals to throw at the end of the ceremony, and a miniature wedding program.  We love to be efficient!

Now, we’ve often seen floating floral shapes and candles before, but we wanted a fresh idea to bring the pool into the decor.  We custom made the couple’s monogram out of styrofoam and covered it in hearty pink and orange carnations to bring in the “pop of color”.

This was such a great wedding favor idea that literally flew off the shelves.  The women at the wedding loved having a wrap for a late night stroll by the pool and the flip-flops were an excuse to shed uncomfortable heels.

What “Bright Ideas” will you incorporate into your wedding.  I would love to hear all about it.  Thanks so much to Liz Banfield for capturing all the beautiful images.

Hi Y’all! It’s the start of a new week and I hope you all had a great weekend and I hope all the moms had a beautiful Mother’s Day.  It’s a busy week for us at  Soirée, oh yes, it’s always busy around here and we totally love it.  Lots of running around today as we are hosting a celebration relaunch of  The Lettered Olive later this week.  More news coming soon but for now, celebrate this beautiful day.  I’m off to get started on my “to do” list!

Tara’s Holiday Tidbits

This year my Christmas cards will feature recent photos taken by my friend Travis Dew.  I am loving her photography of children, and just wanted to spread the word about her amazing talent!

I received this Happy Holiday email today and thought the artwork from Furman Land Design, LLC was just fitting for a Lowcountry Greeting.

A Woman of Many Talents

Liz Banfield recently shared with me some photos and comments from a recent “Golden Anniversary” party she threw for her parents… it’s adorable, and of course is just complimented by her photography… who knew we could add event designer to her resume!

I candied kumquats for the “topper” and the ornate ribbon was from Hymen Hendler & Sons in NYC.

On a budget, I chose candles over flowers for ambience.  It was their “golden” anniversary so I picked out this garland from Michaels.  I was a bit torn – looked like it could be tacky in the store – but it did look nice under the low lights… mirror tiles are from Ikea.

I dislike the “shrine” aspect of the usual photo display so I tried to make things more uniform my printing in B&W on 4×6.

Thank you Martha Stewart for this idea… pom poms attached to bamboo for swivel sticks.

No budget for flowers so I just did this large branch that cost $3.

A sign on the door using the same paper as the invitation and a photo from my parents wedding.  This was also the photo we used on the custom stamps.  Thank you Tara for teaching me that fresh flowers and hot glue can go together!!!
