Just a little sneak peek from our June rehearsal dinner… can’t wait to have wedding photos for you soon!

pinson-party-1

the colors were fresh crisp green and cobalt, which were so fun and unexpected for this time of year, but worked!  The Groom is an avid photographer and in law school, so Ashley Bakery combined those two personalities into one cake!  The Groom’s grandfather hand needlepointed monogrammed kneelers for their ceremony.

The menus and place cards were combined into a fun piece called Cootie Catchers (you know the game that tells you who you will marry, where you will live, etc. from your school days)… they were a huge hit- not so easy on the design/layout end but loved the final result. How About?

Here are all of the new neats and treats we’re loving for the upcoming fall wedding season:

“Girls Gone Mild” at their bachelorette parties- we had a bride recently who went to a local pet shelter to play with the animals, then went to a dance lesson with her girls, and finished the evening at a cooking class where they dined on the meal they prepared afterwards… love it!

A “Beer Bar” rehearsal dinner…great bubbles, wine tastings, and speciality cocktails have been long time staples at weddings. Why not have fun and mix it up at the casual party the night before and select several of your favorite Local or Craft Brews and offer a sampling to guests. Here are some suggestions from New York Weddings. You can of course have fun with custom labels!

Let the groomsmen have a personality… If bridesmaids get to pick dresses in varying colors or necklines, why not the groomsmen?  Especially when you can get these amazing bow ties from Forage via The Curiosity Shop.

Insider Trading

I’m so excited for the new Wall Street movie to come out (October 24th), as the first is one of my all time favorites!  This recent article from Conde Nast Traveler breaks it down by what defined the persona of in the new Wall Streeters then and now…

A first for Soiree- a New Year’s wedding.  And, it’s in Little Rock, Arkansas.  We are very excited about what we get to create and the palate we have to work with… It’s taking place in a sweet little church called All Souls, and the reception will be held at Marlsgate Plantation.  I loved getting to see another Southern state’s plantations, since that is such a huge wedding scene here. Here are the blank slate photos.

I put this photo in even though it’s hard to see, b/c I love that it looks like it could date back to the civil war, but I actually took it that day!

I loved the look of this landscape since it’s so different than what we’re used to; surprisingly, this is only 10 mins from downtown Little Rock

there were also some amazing “secret” gardens as well, which i was enthralled with- reminded me of the Middleton Place gardens here in Charleston, where I was married 5 years ago!

And Speaking of Arkansas…

I have to admit, Chelsea’s custom made Vera Wang was pretty pretty!

I loved the fresh perspective that the Beauty Bets blog used in getting Liz Banfield’s ideas on how bride’s make up can reflect in their wedding day photos. Just so happens that she used our bride, Carter Fellers as her example!

Soiree definitely works mostly with brides and planning weddings, but sometimes we get to do other events which keep things different and interesting around here, like our Darkness to Light Gala which was featured a couple of weeks ago.

Here are shots from a Bar Miztvah we did a few years back… The theme was sports- you should have seen a team of ladies coming up with the ideas on this one!

basketball-beanie

the father wore a basketball yarmulkes in honor of the sports theme

red-flowers

colors were a deep red, gold, and black and white, so these deep fall dahlias were the perfect hue!

footballs

walls of inflatable balls were the focal point behind the bars

room-shot

golf-table

each table top had a sports theme, here is the golf section even with astro turf as the topper! table numbers were printed on the flags.

the tag line for the night: It’s Game Time!

table-shot

black and white striped pendants mimicked referee jerseys, and centerpieces were flower “balls”

menu-cards

the invites were wrapped in paper that looked and felt like foottball leather, and were even hand laced, so we kept that theme for the menu cards

bar-shot

our shadow box bars were all filled with different types of sports balls

Thank you to Squire Fox for all of the photos…

Walk With You…

Finding a first dance song and a father/daughter dance song always tends to be a tough point for a lots of brides.  We had a father from our wedding in May,  who worked with the surprise performer (Edwin McCain) to write a song for his daughter.  Edwin has now recorded it, and it’s a really lovely song- listen to it here.
