Since we just featured their lovely wedding, we thought it only fitting to share their super fun Saturday night rehearsal party full of fun and games. For the eve before their wedding this fun loving couple had a truly personal rehearsal and welcome party. Think tropical beach party (but indoors) which was appropriate considering a tropical storm kicked off their wedding week. Photos are by Liz Banfield.

All of the delicious bites from Cru Catering were on point! Party perfect cocktails greeted guests along with passed apps like mini Tacos and gazpacho shots. We also set up a display of personalized paper cones filled with fried plantains for guests to grab and munch before sitting down to dinner.  We love little touches like matching servers and staff to fit the event, so tropical shirts were a must!

Long family style tables named after islands the couple has traveled to together, were dressed with with colorful patterned toppers and lush foliage at each place setting.  Guests enjoyed a lively dedication video and photo montage towards the end of dinner.

The groom is a big movie lover, so his groom’s cake was an unbelievable nod to his favorite movie- I’ll let you guess which one!

After party Collage

After dinner, curtains were pulled back and revealed a beach party, complete with a sand dance floor, seagrass lounge seating and tropical umbrellas. Guests could check their shoes, and we had a foot wash with buckets of water and paint brushes to clean up after dancing.

For our tropical bar, palm fronds were the perfect design element. Frozen cocktails like Pina Coladas and Pain Killers got guests in the spirit, and Co Co & Co custom coconut water kept everyone hydrated. This is our new favorite, how awesome is their beach cart, and you can serve the coconuts with or without booze!

In addition to the dessert bar featuring homemade churros, mini banana puddings, and coconut cream pie shots, a full video arcade sparked fierce air hockey competitions into the late hours.

Today we are showcasing this rehearsal dinner for Nancy and Nathan on Sea Island, Georgia. Often times our clients ask us to help with many of their weekend events and since we want to be careful not to overshadow the wedding, we love getting to design a compliment to the wedding. I also love it when clients choose to have their photographer to capture the entire weekend, like they did here with Liz Banfield.

Lettered Olive works with our clients to create a printing package that incorporates subtleties throughout the design that ties them all together. For the rehearsal dinner, our design theme was going to have a lot of greenery and natural elements, so fronds graced the rehearsal dinner invitations.

As a homage to the couple’s heritage, a bagpiper welcome guests to dinner.

Buffet Collage

We sometimes find a “buffet” or station style dinner harder to design because there is less room for details… During cocktails a wooden board was displayed combining the evening’s menu and the seating by table for each guest.

Centerpieces of mixed greens housed in cement pots trailed the center of long dinner tables…Tables were named after the couples favorite locations throughout the world.

We hope you enjoyed our wedding Wednesday post on Gaby and Ward’s super glam Kiawah Island wedding last week.  Today, we’re sharing a quick post on their rehearsal dinner because I think it’s always fun to see how the whole weekend comes together in photos.  Thank you again to Corbin Gurkin for the sweet images.

Gaby and Ward welcomed friends and family at the Ocean Room at Kiawah Island for their simple supper. The rooms itself lends itself more to the masculine feel, which works out since the rehearsal dinner is typically hosted by the groom’s family. But of course, we have to make sure the bride is happy too! Hence, the mixing of dark grays and browns, textures, and the pop of pink flowers.

One long table was the perfect way to set the tone for the blending of families…

The menu cards were flipped over and hand printed with each name doubling as place cards… Love this easy space and cost saving detail. And, you know how I love to adorn napkins… simple ribbons with a camelia tucked in made a pretty detail.

A sweet and attentive groom takes care of his bride’s tears, due to her father’s toast.

Brides, it’s so great to have your wedding photographer on hand friday night as well, because you can get some lovely photos together before the big day… Love it.
