Wanted to share some of the recent prettiness our sister company Lettered Olive has produced for some of our clients. Our brides love the letterpress designs printed on the thick luxurious Italian paper, and Lettered Olive gets its name from the South Carolina state seashell!

The wedding papers above were for a couple wanting a lot of natural elements incorporated in a sophisticated way. The escort cards for dinner featured different African fabrics as a nod to the couple’s time in the Peace Corps where they met.

For a wedding in Aspen, Colorado, elements of the native landscape were married with a soft feminine palette. Another design juxtaposition and luxury for the guests we were excited about were the leather bound menus stamped with individuals name.

For our glamour bride marrying in Texas, florals, pinks, and sequins were the name of the game. We found the perfect floral fabric we wanted to incorporate into the wedding decor and Lettered Olive made envelope liners to match it perfectly, along with floral papers to use in other paper designs like the menu cards. I love the look of something like masculine horns paired with a pink ink and monogram, don’t you?

This bride found much of the inspiration for her New Year’s Eve wedding from Carolyne Roehm’s affinity for blue and white. We found blue and white toile plates we knew we were going to use, so our Lettered Olive designers took inspiration from designs you’d see throughout china patterns and popular interior fabrics. The diecut edges were carried throughout the entire wedding design as well.

For a bride that had spent her post college career working in art galleries, a favorite painting provided color and pattern inspiration. A custom monogram (a tradition for all of the brides in her family) was designed to personalize the papers even more.

We love working on finding vintage stamps for the invitations that they work well with, but we also love the idea of designing stamps printed at zazzle.com.

Bits of Lace

We’re celebrating Wedding Wednesday with this ocean side soiree on Kiawah Island. Our bride loved Pinterest, so a lot of the inspiration for her wedding came from lots of her long hours of Pinning. Sweet, vintage, and romantic touches were the main focus, and the bride wanted to incorporate items she had been collecting into the wedding decor. Thank you to Virgil Bunao for the lovely imagery.

A garden trellis draped in fabric helped frame the scenery for the ceremony. Stepping stones painted with “Bride” and “Groom” and all of the wedding party names were laid out for all of the attendants to stand on during the ceremony.

Bountiful bouquets of roses (the bride’s favorite) and dahlias were hand tied with vintage lace. Flower girls adorned tulle fairy dresses, and the bride fashioned a custom birdcage veil.

Groomsmen flowers were tied off with pieces of complimentary lace as well. Bridesmaids’ bouquets were presented in antique hatboxes.

Lace was a design element that Lettered Olive took notes from for the invitation suite. Pearlized paper was letterpressed with an image mimicking a vintage picture frame.

During cocktail hour on the lawn of the Ocean Course, guests were served “Lowcountry Lemonade” out of apothecary bottles tied with lace; the bride collected bits of lace and vintage fabric that was used on trays and tables throughout the food stations. Handkerchiefs were repurposed into cocktail napkins.

An antique baker’s rack was used to house the champagne station. Fresh fruit and purees were available for guests to turn their champagne into cocktails like Bellinis.

Cakes were framed in a fabric covered trellis and a custom made ruffled linen was created just for this girly bride.

The groom is a musician in a local band, so the bride commissioned a resemblance cake topper from Etsy; Tie backs made from fresh roses softened the structure. Cakes by Jim Smeal.

Photos of other brides and family members were displayed in the lounge. Centerpieces for sideboards and other tables throughout were the bride’s bits of lace and bowls of dinner plate dahlias in the perfect dulce de leche shade.

Guests partied into the wee hours to “Who’s Bad” a Michael Jackson cover band.

There is a gentleman on Kiawah Island that offers his antique car and services to drive couples to their accommodations at the end of the party, and who could resist this??? The vehicle and it’s owner are pure perfection!

Pattern Play

This wedding had all the components to make it not only lovely, but also classic. Clean and simple lines, a pretty pattern, a versatile color palette, and of course, peonies! Guests received invitations (designed by Lettered Olive) inside of a pink paisley letterpressed pocket instead of an inner envelope.

LL Bean boat totes were personalized to feature a classic NYC black and white cookies (the bride hails from NY), and locally made Benne seed wafers, tea bags, and Charleston Magazines for occupying any down time at the beach.

Signage Collage

Classic hand calligraphy was used throughout to lend a formal tone; Guests found their seating assignments in postcard carousels; we also stationed Polaroids and photographers here for guests to leave a note card with their photos and well wishes in the empty slots.
