Tara Guerard Soiree by Perry Vaile

This rehearsal dinner was just too sweet not to share. Our bride Caroline, from our Real Bridal Advice series, and her soon to be husband celebrated with an intimate group of family and friends in the treehouse style gathering spot- Moreland at Palmetto Bluff.

Guests arrive by vintage trolley. One way we manage our transportation is by letting guests know in the Welcome booklets not only the pick up times, but scheduled return trip times so that we can ensure all vehicles are back on hand at the end of the evening to get everyone home.

The quaint surroundings at Moreland are the perfect backdrop for our bar-b-que and oyster roast.

To play along with the travel totem pole signage, we created a custom sign for the couple.

For this sized group we thought community tables would really bring everyone together, and are a great way to have different samplings of all of the party food. I loved the simple arrangements of white hydrangeas and magnolia branches! Leaves were a big design element at the wedding, so these were such a nice compliment for the next day!

Burlap linens and carnival lights finished up the simple but stunning feel for this couple’s rehearsal dinner.

Thank you to Perry Vaile photography for being on hand to capture these moments.

Well, it’s official. Spring will be coming early this year… And, I say that as it is 70 degrees in February here in Charleston. So, for this Wedding Wednesday, I’m pulling this sweet little Spring fling out of the vault to get us all cheery and ready for beautiful days ahead!

This bouquet was a knock out, one of my faves… the chamomile, lily of the valley, lisianthus, and white poppies made for a right out of the garden look.

Letterpressed invitations from Lettered Olive included a jute belly wrap, patterened envelope liner,  and hand calligraphied tags in lieu of inner envelopes.

Guests were greeted at cocktail hour with sweet tea vodka martinis. We had printed little drink flags with the couples’ name printed to adorn the simple glasses for a little added detail.

Guests used classic Polaroid cameras to take candid shots and leave handwritten notes to the couple. This would be an easy, affordable, and memorable “station” anyone could set up for any kind of event!

We always find ourselves using common goods in uncommon ways. Bulk yellow millet (corn meal) was used to give color to trays holding the seating cards, and filled the glass cylinders holding candles which also helped hold them steady.

Burlap topped linens graced the dining tables and the burlap wrapped menu cards complete the earthy elegant look to the dinner.

This deconstructed cake display really worked with the simplicity the bride wanted to portray on her wedding day. Shaved coconut is still such a classic look for a wedding cake – we started seeing it’s popularity in the 60’s and it still holds relevancy today!

After dinner overlooking the marsh, guests made their way to the lounge where they could witness the spectacular sunset on the creek at Kiawah Island and enjoy the rest of the evening.
