One of our favorite Southern venues is Sea Island, GA… it’s full of rich history, classic architecture, and fantastic service! And not to be overshadowed by weddings, sometimes the wedding welcome parties can be just as fun… The couple is usually more relaxed and are seeing many guests for the first time in a while.  We are sharing this perfectly pleasant little party at Frederica Golf Club, before a wedding we can’t wait to share with you soon… All photos by Corbin Gurkin.

With the bride clad in a custom Dee Hutton party dress, the event started with cocktails in a lounge on the lawn, followed by a sit down dinner and toasting inside.

The venue has the most darling vintage boats that can be taken out for slow ride around the water… And the position on the bluff was prime real estate for the lounge seating.

Since the wedding featured shades of pink and coral, we wanted to give a little nod to that with the flowers this evening. We love how they made for a cheery pop of color agains the navy awning stripes. Custom cocktail napkins and koozies by Lettered Olive accented the bar.

Sweet seating viognettes offered guests a place to gather and with a prime view of the waterfront scenery.

We built our escort card table using tailored boxes with fresh rye grass elements and anchored by a large and lovely citrus sherbert colored arrangement.  Even though the rehearsal party is traditionally hosted by the grooms family, it’s still a wedding celebration, so flowers have their place!

Guests enjoyed a traditional southern supper (complete with help yourself biscuits), and toasting the couple into the late evening!

As many of you know we also have an office in New York, which we just celebrated the 10 year anniversary of… Recently when a larger corner space on our current floor opened up, we jumped at the chance to move in, and had my BFF, Nicki Clendening help with sprucing up the space for us. Thank you to Corbin Gurkin for the pics of the space.

Many of the items have been sourced via flea markets, antique booths, and favorite hidden gem spots over the past years, but we love the thought Nicki had to paint the walls a version of our “Soiree” signature orange…

Standard wooden kitchen cabinets get a complete face lift with marbleized fronts and new brass hardware…

Of course, no spot is complete without being able to entertain clients or vendors when needed… We hope you’ll come by and see us!

In case you are like me and have been so busy all summer, that the fact it’s July Fourth already is blowing your mind, today we’re giving you easy tips on last minute hosting.  What to serve, shortcuts to take, and how to use what you have or gather what you need. The easiest table decor for the summer are bunches of hydrangeas (Trader Joe’s has great ones) in vases gathered through the house.

One of the best things about celebrating the 4th of July is that it doesn’t have to be fancy. For heavier food options- store bought fried chicken, since it’s the season-local tomatoes sliced and watermelon slices are super easy sides, and of course, we have to serve shrimp- either peel and eat or cocktail style. When serving cocktail shrimp, I like to get take out bags of the pellet ice from Chick Fil A or Sonic and set up a display to keep them cold. Also, dress up chips and dips or cheese displays by bringing serving pieces of furniture outside for your set up.

If you are having a sit down dinner using disposable Bamboo serveware and plates is an easy way to avoid clean up, be good to the environment, and still look a little elevated. Available on Amazon in a flash!

I of course, like to put thought into the bar and drinks we’ll be serving. A self serve bar that’s easily accessible is the best way to keep it easy and guests happy. If you don’t want to have everything available for cost purposes, the 4th is a great time to take advantage and go with a red, white, and blue theme. In the warmer months I substitute Rose for the “red”. Vodka sodas with a splash of fresh grapefruit and fresh blueberries are my perfect summer drink, but Gin and Tonics can work also. And, many of our local breweries do special summer releases and the cans were so perfect!

Happy Fourth of July!
