We have some very fashionable mothers and clients… I just love that mothers of the bride finally feel like they get to be queen for the day along with the bride (it’s not overshadowing for the mothers to look fab too, it just compliments the bride). I just wanted to share all

This glamorous MOB went with a  custom made ballgown featuring platinum and gold metallic accents by local Charleston designer, Mason Hosker.

This statement gown from Monique Lhuillier is a perfect mother of the bride look. Ice blue with navy tulle and beaded florals, it’s delicate and gorgeous at the same time.

For this wedding where the bridesmaids wore navy gowns, a couture version for the mother of the bride was a lovely way to go. This style is beyond flattering and navy is just so classic and perfect for mothers of the bride where black can sometimes be discouraged.

This Rosie Assoumin ensemble was truly fabulous. For our clients’ wedding which was shoes of creams with fresh greenery accents, a spring green gown could not have been more perfect… and, it had a removable cape for dancing!

We loved this seaside rehearsal dinner in downtown Newport, RI. It was the perfect compliment to the formal wedding held the next day, and a fantastic way to welcome guests in for the weekend. Held at a local restaurant, friends and family joined the couple for an intimate rehearsal dinner, followed by a dessert and dancing party for all guests. Corbin Gurkin captured all of the events of the weekend.

Cocktail Hour CollageGuests enjoyed popular favorites like New England Clam Chowder and mini lobster rolls. Keeping in line with the sea colored palette, escort cards were nautical inspired flags displayed on a watercolored board.

044-2016_Stephanie_Peter_0094Keeping the decor natural and simple made the most sense for a nautical inspired feel. Table runners were of a french linen flour sack feel. Potted rosemary topiaries and simple hydrangea blooms dotted the length of the tables.

048-2016_Stephanie_Peter_0088One of my new favorite design elements are colored border linen dinner napkins. So simple but they lend such an elegant touch. And, how cute were these white nautical rope balls which we used to “anchor” the place cards. White ink on navy paper is an unexpected but pretty way to present the dinner menus.

Spectacular views were offered as desserts and drinks were served to the tunes of a DJ so  the couple had many moments to enjoy chatting with guests before the big day…

Remember when there was a big wedding trend of instead of cakes, there were dessert bars, or pie stations, or smaller cake displays, etc? Well, tradition must be on the upswing, because we are seeing a lot of cakes making an appearance again, and the design is mostly simple, delicate, and sometimes even subtle. Here are some of our recent faves. Above, for summer in upstate New York, this ladylike floral confection from Nine Cakes deserved a custom made statement linen.

Our springtime in Charleston wedding had both garden and modern design elements, with a strong marbleizing game.  Jim Smeal nailed it as always with this sleek stunner.

White on white is majorly back. But to keep this one interesting and different, square tiers were selected instead of round, and handmade hydrangea blooms used throughout the wedding flowers were represented here… Cake by Jim Smeal

For another white on white cake, Jim Smeal added detailed architectural patterns noted each layer, giving it a glam Art Deco look… the hand made icing blooms softened it up for a that wedding touch. Keeping it clean around the bottom with a simple wooden board on a marble top table kept it inline with the sleep and simple chic look we were going for.

Our minimalist natural bride opted for a simple white cake with textured “waves”, and just a hint of natural greens giving it an organic and earthy feel. Jim Smeal cake.

Of course, we do still see some color and bolder styles.. Instead of adding any live blooms to this confection, Jim Smeal created and icing vine and floral pattern that really turned this cake into its own design focal point.

This Jim Smeal cake, so perfect for a glam fall fete, was a chocolate lovers dream. The white icing flowers definitely pop and add a wedding-y touch and sitting atop a custom embroidered linen pull it all together into a picture perfect detail.
