Anthro window 2

First off let me apologize for my iphone photos- there are some reflection challenges in many of these shots. But, walking up and down King Street here in Charleston during December is so charming… Most everyone gets into the spirit and does up their windows sometimes rivaling what you’d see in New York.  Here are just a few of my favorite eye candies.

Anthro window 1

The first is Anthropologie– with their gingerbreadish, french ski chalet village. So sweet and so Anthro.

Croghan's windows

Of course Croghan’s Jewel Box, the staple in Charleston for jewels and gifts doesn’t disappoint. Sophisticated and glittering and full of sparkle.

Bob Ellis window

Looking festive at Bob Ellis Shoes.

Finicky Filly window

Finicky Filly is one of my favorite places to shop in Charleston and one of my favorite windows.

Worthwhile window 2 Worthwhile Window 1

This so does not do them justice, but the Worthwhile windows are really fabulous! Love all of the hand cut paper designs.

Half Moon 2 Half Moon Window 1

Lastly, the typically known rugged outdoor shop, Half Moon Outfitters went soft and sweet with their hand cut paper “snowflakes”.

Being personal fans of her clothing, we could not be more excited when Charleston designer, Lindsey Carter of Troubadour Clothing’s designs graced the cover of the recent Anthropologie catalog! Celebrities such as Mindy Kaling and Taraji P. Henson have worn Troubadour (follow her on Instagram to see the dets), and Fashion bloggers such as Blair Eadie Bee of Atlantic-Pacific, Chassity Evans of Look Linger Love, and Caitlin Kruse of Style Within Reach frequently feature her designs.  You can also find collection pieces on Rent the Runway. Today we’re showing you some of our favorite pieces and a little convo we had with Lindsey.

I personally ran to Anthro to purchase this top (you can too, here):

ogie come about; and how did you feel when you saw your piece on the cover of their catalog?
It was amazing!! I actually knew for 2 months previous and had to keep it to myself. I started to leak it to people because I was so excited about it, then got nervous that they could have changed the cover last minute. So when it came it was a mix of pure happiness and excitement with a side of relief! Plus I loved the cover photo, it was almost like an extension of the brand.

How does Charleston itself or your surroundings inspire your design?
I would say that living in a coastal city inspires me to design for a warmer climate year round, which means I gravitate towards designing Spring and Summer more. I love color prints, happy florals, graphic stripes and artsy prints. Some of those elements can be hard to bring into a Fall color palette.
How did the collaboration with Anthropol

What is your biggest career accomplishment to date?
I think there are some really amazing things in store for the brand for the remainder of the year, but highlights are the Anthropologie cover, Blair Eadie Bee wearing Troubadour, and our volume growth this year. I have also really loved the Rent the Runway business, because girls are able to rent our dress and then tag us in photos and instagram. Its so lovely to see how people are wearing the brand and their positive feedback. We are also working on a collaboration with Rebecca Atwood for a home book that will be released next year.

Have you ever done any wedding designs for friends/family?
I designed and sewed my own wedding dress! And actually, I found the process so stressful that I swore I wouldn’t get into doing it for other people. It is such a special occasion gown that the pressure to make every last stitch perfect is so intense. I can laugh about how stressful it was for me now, but I learned appreciation for designers who do bridal because they are able to take that pressure on.
