blktux

We are quite used to renting tabletop pieces and furniture for the weddings that we plan here at Soirée, but renting wedding gowns and designer tuxes is an interesting new trend that seems to be gaining momentum.

For example, THE BLK TUX was founded in 2013 by two best friends who found it frustrating to find the proper tuxes for one of their weddings. They parter with high-end suit makers to create their custom styles and by taking out the middleman, they are able to keep their prices low. As well as weddings, their suits could also be worn to galas, work functions, and charity events.

Borrowing Magnolia was launched this year and is a website that allows brides to try on three previously worn dresses at home with the option to rent them for their wedding or purchase them at a discounted rate. The Jenny Packham dress above retails for around $6000 but you can rent it for $1800 – you have to decide if you’re okay not being able to pass it down to your children, but its nice to have the option to wear your favorite dress for a little less damage to your wallet. What do you think? Would you try this trend?!

BridalBoxBlogHave you ever wondered what you should have on hand on your wedding day in case of emergency? What if Aunt Lori gets a little tipsy and spills wine on your sister’s dress? Or what if your groom tears part of his tux just before your long-rehearsed first dance? Of course we hope these things don’t happen, but after almost twenty years of wedding planning, we’ve seen our fair share of  day-of accidents and now we know to come prepared. Just for you, we’ve pulled together a list of everything we keep in our “Brides Box” and have links to everything on Amazon so you can add it all to your cart and call it a day. Fingers crossed you won’t need any of these items, but better safe than sorry!

We might have gone down a small Pinterest rabbit hole this weekend (it happens to the best of us!), and we were so inspired by some of the amazing wedding hairstyles that we found. It makes all the difference to have your hair properly done on your big day, so we’re sharing some of our favorite styles with you here that will surely please any type of bride.

1

For starters how fab is this half up hairstyle? I generally end up wearing my hair in a simpler version of this each day. So classic!

2

A low ponytail always looks chic, and we especially love that this look could even be worn for a night on the town. Wear it to the side with a few more curls for an especially glam style.

3

For a more formal style, this curled updo feels soft and romantic. Bonus… it will keep your hair out of your face and off your neck during especially hot Southern summers.

4

And finally we love the idea of this low chignon finished off with a beautiful jeweled comb. You could even use a family heirloom here such as your grandmother’s brooch as your “something old.”
