When thinking about weddings, you automatically go straight to the bride (as you should, it’s her day after all). But, so many of our brides are so thankful to have their sisters, cousins, sister in laws, childhood friends, college roommates, sorority sisters, etc. surrounding them on the big day. So, we are paying homage t0 bridesmaids!  Some of you have been one, some have been one many many times, but to all thank you..

The history behind the Western bridesmaid tradition is thought to have originated from Roman Law, which required ten witnesses at a wedding in order to outsmart evil spirits (believed to attend marriage ceremonies) by dressing in identical clothing to the bride and groom, so that the evil spirits would not know who was getting married.

Soiree wedding bridesmaids

There’s a lot that goes into your wedding day, and we know as much as you do that you couldn’t do it without the support and love of your bridesmaids. They are there for bridal showers, late night phone calls, and moral support along with their many other roles leading up to your wedding, so why not show them how grateful you are with a small token of your appreciation. As with any gift, your budget and relationship with your bridesmaids will help you find the right thing, but we’ve gathered up some of our favorites here, and we’re pretty sure you can’t go wrong. And for the bridesmaids that have really gone above and beyond, why not combine them all for an amazing gift basket! Photo above by Corbin Gurkin.

1. The “Social Butterfly” notebook would be a great option for your maid of honor who has been keeping track of your schedule and social obligations during this busy time. $45 from Sloane Stationery; 2. A bouquet of flowers is always a lovely way to say thank you, and these come fresh from the farm meaning they last longer and are more reasonably priced. Starting at $40 from The Bouqs Co; 3. A beautiful pair of earrings is a great way to show gratitude, and we love that these by Shashi have a classic feel but are still fashion-forward. $44 from Shopbop. 4. You can’t go wrong with a candle, especially not one from Diptyque. The Roses scent has always been a favorite.  $30-60 from Nordstrom; 5. This two-sided frame would be a great way to showcase a photo of you and your bridesmaid from your wedding day, and one from the two of you in college, or during childhood on the other. $150 from Tory Burch.

blue2

You can’t go wrong with blue accents at your wedding, and not surprisingly it’s one of our most requested colors here at Soirée. Actually, we love mixing all of our favorite shades of blue together for one fab look! Check out this inspiration from some of our previous Soirée weddings… we’re still loving that peacock feather place card!

Billowing blue bridesmaid dresses are always a classic, but we also love these favor boxes in a darker hue. The range of palette keeps a wedding from feeling monotone – super important!
