Happy Monday! We are back in the office after Spring Break here in S.C. and wrapping up a Gala for a non profit near and dear to our hearts, The Charleston Animal Society. Starting to wrap our heads around the final details of our spring weddings has me thinking about flowers and looks for bridesmaids.  We always like to add a special touch from the bride or maybe it’s just the Southern in us, but a monogram on the bouquet wrap is always a nice detail!

We are still seeing long and most often coordinating dresses still a popular choice for brides and their wedding parties. The neutral pale palettes still reign supreme which I love because the flowers can perfectly pop!

A mixture of styles and colors in one designers line is still a popular way for brides to offer their maids a choice reflecting their personal style, and it does really make for pretty photos.

I love the brides who aren’t afraid of something different or fashion forward. Hearing a bride want gold metallic dresses could sound alarming, but when done as glamorous as these by Kate McDonald the look really pays off!

When a bolder color choice is used, I love to keep the flowers light and complimentary- all white and natural greens is always classic and isn’t reserved just for the bride.

We’re seeing lots of brides coming up with great alternatives when not able to find exactly what they have in mind.. Here, little white Lula Kate dresses turned into tops when a long ballgown was fitted over them. Love that the girls will have something else to wear after the wedding!

Navy has always been a preference for me over black for maids… it’s still classic and formal, but also lighter and airier in photos… works great in both afternoon and evening settings and I love how many different colors really work with it.

Charleston Weddings Cover

There are tons of fabulous features in the new Charleston Weddings Magazine, so if you haven’t gotten your copy yet, you should!  This was a fun little concept collaboration with LulaKate about dressing bridesmaids.  Accessories are everything and can transform the level of formality for an outfit. I love the thought of if you are sticking to something a bit more traditional for the attire having some fun with patterned shoes or bags.

Our local Bella Bridesmaids literally has anything imaginable for your girls on your big day.  And, not only that, but finding a party dress for the other events surrounding the wedding and even something for the mother of the bride is easily done here. I got together with the owner, Allison Long and had her help me sift through everything- here’s what we are loving.

Sparkle is in as I’m sure you’ve seen all over the Social Media world. I love this option from Aidan Mattox because it definitely adds the glam, but is more subdued than all over beading, allowing the bride to stand out a little more.

This floral one shoulder from Amsale is really lovely in person. The colors keep in line with the blushes/corals that we are seeing this season, and the pattern is simple enough that it would pair well in photos with a mix of  dreesses in different styles and colors. Here is another color and version from Amsale’s website.

I was really happy to see Lauren Conrad’s Paper Crown line in person. The blush color on this dress would look awesome on any skin tone and body type and the dress is really could be worn again for all sorts of events! The fabric was light but had some thickness that would eliminate that constant crinkle.

Love the thulle skirt on this Amsale– the sheer and scalloped lace top is so pretty and feminine.

These two from Jenny Yoo were so light and airy, but had such great construction they would be perfect for our warm temps and outdoor Charleston weddings. The gold shimmer was a great offering for a metallic dress option. Also, as you can see, you can use the wrap feature to create a one shoulder look, cap sleeves on both sides, or even as a “pashmina” (see the pics from Jenny Yoo’s site).

For a more formal option, this black and white Alfred Sung shangtung is killer. It’s got the short/long skirt option, and even though I don’t always love strapless I love it with a sweetheart neckline.

There were so many fun party dresses for the Brides too-

LOVE this Adrianna Papell for a 2nd dress/departure dress, or even formal rehearsal dinner…

Super cute Social party dress. The white embroidered overlay is so sweet on a bride for a bridal luncheon, shower, rehearsal dinner, etc.

This is obviously a fun cute party dress that not only works for a shower, engagement party, rehearsal dinner, but also Derby parties, or as a guest to another wedding!  From Kirribilla.

Allison tells us that look of bridesmaids wearing creams and whites along side the bride is still happening big time. So, I really liked this little Joanna August‘s sheer billowy sleeves-  perfect again as a departure dress or for a rehearsal dinner.

Can I please have a mother of the bride wear this? This Kirribilla is also a great getaway dress!

You can also accessorize bridesmaids and brides for all parties at Bella. 31 Bits uses 100% recycled paper to make their beads by hand. Their profits go to support women in Uganda. Allison is also hosting a Stella and Dot Happy Hour this week- details below.
