Congratulations to Kate McDonald Bridal on the debut of her new collection.  A cocktail hour kicked off the show which was hosted by the William Aiken House.

WAH gates

Gates were welcoming with draping and pretty little oyster shell wreaths- love the nod to Charleston and the fact that Katherine has kept her design operation local from the beginning.

What a lovely runway!

Lounge on lawn

Guests could enjoy pre show conversations in the lawn lounge…

jewel tones

Jewel tones reigned over the LulaKate bridesmaids collection.

pastel palette

pastel bridal

Pastel palettes are still popular… The Kate McDonald bridesmaids and bridal collections were both full of ethereal lines and lightweight fabrics.

Stripe dress

Of course, the famous Lula Kate stripe made an updated appearance with a halter top.

Another trend that was represented was the two piece dress.

blue thulle skirt

This was our favorite piece of the collection, the blue tulle overlay… one of our recent brides wore a Kate McDonald dress with a tulle skirt overlay she wore for the ceremony and then removed for the reception.

This time of year in Charleston is always crazy, starting with SEWE (Southeastern Wildlife Expo) at the end of February, then the Charleston Wine and Food Festival, the Historic Charleston Antiques Show, and of course Baker Motor’s Charleston Fashion Week.  We are mostly looking forward to the Spring Bridal Show.  We are headed to the tents on Saturday and will be live tweeting and instagramming from the shows … stay tuned!

This year’s feature designer is Amsale. Some of my faves from her 2015 collection that I hope to see on the runway-
