xmas morning1

Merry Christmas Eve to all of our sweet readers! We love sharing little bits of our crazy world with you, so on this special day, we thought we would share some of our very own Christmas traditions. For many of our team members, it’s not Christmas without a new pair of pajamas! Better yet if they’re gifted on Christmas Eve so that you can wake up wearing them on Christmas morning. We especially love this classic set from J.Crew (2).

As far as food goes, it’s important to have something delicious and warm to eat while you’re opening presents. Event Coordinator Meg Schrier was kind enough to share the recipe for her family’s Egg and Sausage Casserole (1):

Ingredients:

8 eggs beaten

1 lb crumbled pork sausage

2 cups shredded mozzarella

1 8 oz pkg crescent roll dough

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

Dash of oregano

2 cups chopped veggies (onions, red peppers, broccoli)

Directions:

Sauté veggies until soft. Cook sausage, crumble and set aside. Preheat oven to 325. Grease 9 x 13 baking dish. Line bottom of dish with crescent roll dough and sprinkle with crumbled sausage. Mix beaten eggs with cheese and veggies and pour over sausage. Sprinkle with oregano. Bake at 325 for 30 min or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand 15 min prior to serving.

And for Tara, Christmas morning means serving her favorite eggnog (3)! Here is the recipe in case you’re ready to start the celebrating early:

Charleston Receipts Eggnog:

I pint rye whiskey

1 quart heavy cream

10 egg whites

10 egg yolks

3/4 cup granulated sugar

Merry Christmas from the Soirée team, and thank you to David Land and Family Circle for the beautiful images of Tara’s home above.

With Christmas just around the corner, we thought we would share some of our favorite holiday things to do in Charleston, that always put us in a festive spirit! (Image above from Travel & Leisure)

charleston-grill

For starters, you can’t go wrong with a visit to Charleston Grill at Charleston Place where they are having a special event called “Bubbles and Bites” through January 3rd. You get to sample three top-of-the-line champagnes along with beautiful food parings in a stunning setting while listening to live jazz music. You can’t go wrong!

While you’re at Charleston Place, make sure to stop by the Christmas Trains in the lobby. My kids look forward to it every year, and the hot cocoa can’t be beat. (Image from Hidden Charleston)

Winter Carnival 2009sm

The next stop on our list would have to be the Festival Lights at the James Island County Park. It’s another great option for children, but fun for adults too and features over 700 displays and 2 million lights.

And of course it isn’t Christmas without a little last minute shopping on King Street. We love seeing how our favorite stores decorate their windows for the holidays, and having all of the shops so close together makes it easy to get a lot of gifts out of the way quickly! (Image source)

For stocking stuffers, you can’t beat ESD in Mount Pleasant. The owner, Muffie, has curated the best selection of beautiful frames and tabletop pieces that make great, smaller gifts. (Image from Charleston Grit)

smith street pop up

Last but not least, make sure to stop by the Smith Street Pop Up Shop located at 27 Smith Street, featuring local designers, and open daily through December 24. It’s a perfect place to pick up a unique gift, or even a little something for yourself. I love getting new pajamas to wear on Christmas morning, so I can’t wait to buy some from Tink + Tiger!

Happy Holidays from the Soirée team!
