After our earlier post this week where we shared tips for keeping your hands and nails in shape to best show off your ring, we thought it would be fun to also share some of our favorite engagement rings from one of our favorite spots in town (in case you’re in the market)! Croghan’s Jewel Box is a 100-year-old family jewelry store on King Street here in Charleston, and I had so much fun playing dress up there while my friend Corbin Gurkin took photos of the styles on the top of our wish list. From simple to ornate, it’s important that your personal style is reflected in the ring you choose. There are so many ring shapes and sizes that it can be overwhelming to pick just one, but hopefully this list will help you narrow it down, and Rhett and Mariana at Croghan’s will be sure to answer any other questions you might have!

Let’s be honest. When you’ve just said “yes” to one of the biggest questions of your life, you are ready to tell the world… and show off that ring! But before you do, we’ve asked out beauty editor Kori Mahoney to share a few tips for keeping your hands in tip-top shape for your engagement and wedding day since you’ll be showing them off too. For starters, use a coarse hand scrub to smooth the skin and get rid of any flakiness followed with a nice, non-greasy hand cream. There are so many hand cream options available, so it’s really up to you as far as what you like in terms of texture and fragrance. Some even contain anti-aging benefits such as Vitamin C or sunscreen! Kori recommends hand cream by Crème de la Mer as well as a brand called Omorovicza. Keep them handy and reapply throughout the day and at bedtime. Sleeping in cotton gloves while wearing hand cream underneath can soothe severely dry skin. (Image from 100 Layer Cake)

And don’t forget about your nails! The manicure is where your personality really shines through. We recommend a classic pale pink (such as Essie’s “Ballet Slippers”) for your wedding day, but you might choose a chic red nail for the early days of engagement (Christian Dior has a wonderfully curved brush; shade 999 is a classic cherry red). But of course there’s nothing wrong with being boring and doing what I do… use clear nail polish! Clean and classic. Have fun with it and know that your hands will be in many of your wedding day shots. Have your nails done professionally for your special day and make sure to take your color and a fresh topcoat along with you in case of an accidental chip. (Image from Bridal Guide)

Happy engagement ladies… now go show off that ring!
