So, you’ve decided to get married in the midst of freezing temps yet potentially stunning winter weather photo opps? An unseasonably cold winter so far here in the Southeast, has me thinking about winter wedding style, since we don’t have a chance to experience that often. Today, I’m sharing just a few of my favorite picks for winter wedding style and design ideas.

Of course, the number one accessory brides go for on their wedding day in colder temps is some kind of fur (faux or not) wrap or jacket. Some brides are able to use a vintage one as their something “borrowed” from their mother or grandmother, but if not, lots of lovely finds are on places like etsy, ebay, and even local antique stores!

For a recent wedding, the bridesmaids wore white- white faux fur coats which added a hint of chic to their already fabulous emerald green gowns…

Guests love the chance to break out accessories they may not get many chances to, and I love seeing them embrace the opportunity!
Boots of course are mandatory! I love these Silver Hunter boot options (photo by Liz Banfield, taken from A Crimson Kiss), or you could get the sky blue as your something blue. Or furry snow boots like the ones from Rachel A Clingen’s bride.

Bouquets can be a place to show some seasonal love as well. Anything from an all white formal arrangement, to one bringing in elements and seasonal greens. This lush white mixture we did includes seeded eucalyptus, cotton blossoms, a mixture of white blooms, cypress greens.

If you can’t guarantee snowfall, or your event is taking place inside a venue you can create snow like branches out of pre strung cymbidium orchid strands.

Of course, candlelight is key – and to give these an illusion of snowflakes, we wrapped clear glass cylinders with laser cut paper mimicking snowy patterns..
For today’s wedding Wednesday post, I’m sharing a special wedding that while small in size, it packed a pretty punch. Martha worked for me for years- first as my planner and cohort at Soiree, and then at Lettered Olive. She married her love, Jon whom she met through the event world, as he is a manager at Snyder Event Rentals. They married on a winter afternoon at the French Huguenot Church. Guests joined them for dinner at one of my all time favorite Charleston restaurants, La Fourchette (now closed). 
Individual calligraphied invitations were sent to every guest. Simple welcome boxes welcomed each guest to their hotel room. Miniature programs detailed the ceremony.
The bride wore a simple tea length dress as a nod to Audrey Hepburn, her favorite style icon. A simple all white bunch of gardenias, tulips, and ranunculus provided a delicate bouquet, and a red satin clutch brought in the pop of red seen in the wedding palette. 
The bride and groom saw each other for photos before the ceremony, so were able to walk together to their ceremony at the French Huguenot Church.
The intimate ceremony was accented with a gospel choir, and a stunning alter of blooming pear blossoms, and tall tulips en masse glowing by candlelight.
Guests enjoyed a perfectly Parisian dinner at La Fourchette restaurant. The simplicity of the white dinner linens and exposed brick provided a perfect backdrop for the glowing red florals and candles. Calligraphed names added to the menu cards doubled as place cards. Take home treats hand tied with red silk ribbon thanked guests for attending.
Individual miniature cakes by Jim Smeal were served to each guest for dessert. 
Our sweet Martha and Jon departed at the end of a lovely evening via rickshaw… sometimes the smallest and most simple weddings can be the most memorable.
