Our precious pets can’t be forgotten on our wedding day!  They are just as much a part of our family as our wedding party, so why not find a way to have them there. Today, we’re sharing some of the ways that our clients have had them with them in the past.

This couple had matching Goldens and knew they had least had to have one photo. The problem with having them as part of the ceremony was that they would jump all over the bride’s dress and wreck havoc during the ceremony. So, we hired dog wranglers to have them onsite after the ceremony for photos and then get them home safely and fed for the evening.

This was a fun request, the mother of the bride had collected these plaster sheep and wanted to incorporate them at the wedding. So, we had them “grazing” on the front lawn of the reception space and made lovely garland wreaths for them.

For the couple with matching Australian Shepards, we did a photo shoot with them and a standup chalkboard. The message read “save the date” which was used for a save the date postcard, and then “just married” for the favor boxes. Favor boxes, were take home wedding cake in wooden boxes with brass engraved “doggie” tags.

Bubba the pug had to make his appearance at this couple’s wedding, whose parents also have pugs, definitely making it a family affair.

These sweet labs were with the bride and bridal party as they were getting ready on the wedding day. Not to be excluded they too were getting fancy with the girls.

Soiree Dog

As we all know, dogs can seem like a part of the family and it can feel wrong to leave them out of a celebration as big as your wedding. We’ve had a few Soirée brides ask to include their dogs in their weddings, and while we’re all for it, there are a few tips to keep in mind to make sure it’s a success for everyone (including your dog!).

First and foremost, it’s important that you consider whether or not your dog is really up to the challenge. While we know it may be fun to include them, you really don’t want them to become a distraction or problem during this special day. If you have a well-behaved dog, we say go for it, but if Fido is still leaning basic commands like sit and stay, you might reconsider.

Secondly, make sure to appoint someone to dog duty for the day, meaning they watch the dog while you’re getting ready, bring the dog to the ceremony, and look after the dog during and after the reception. While you might think that you’re furry friend will be at your side constantly, you’ll have lots of other things to worry about and you wouldn’t want them to get lost in the shuffle. Having a friend help with this will relieve some of the pressure surrounding the wedding day festivities and ensure everything goes smoothly. (image source)

Last but not least, bring treats and lots of them! While your dog may do everything you ask when it’s just the two of you at home, this is a much different situation with lots of distractions. Your dog will be in a new environment with lots of new people, and sometimes all you need is one little treat to help them refocus on the job at hand.
