We have been seeing a lot of articles out there regarding wedding trends for 2018, so we thought we would weigh in on some of that we are seeing  and predicting what some of this year’s trends will be! Of course, metallics have been hot now for many years and where rose gold was the metallic of the moment in 2017, we are loving Copper for 2018!  For a rustic but glamorous fall wedding in Kentucky, copper cups were a unpredictable detail for the water/bourbon cups, and copper foiled ink on menus, invites, etc dressed up the printed pieces.

Watercolor! Let’s just say, watercolor is the deal… You are seeing it everywhere from invitations (like these from Happy Menocal for our Hamptons client) to wedding design. We even printed some linens recently in a custom watercolor design!

This one will certainly make all of the grooms and groomsmen happy. While bourbon bars are still required in areas where bourbon is king, we are doing beer walls and taps. This one was a focal point in the after dinner lounge… A few varieties made it a fun tasting experience for those taking a break from dancing.

Finally one of our other favorite trends (meaning we hope it becomes a mainstay vs a trend) are our custom printed matchbooks. Reminds me of the old school restaurants where they had a bowl of matches on the Maitre d’ stand.

We are in full swing 2017 wedding planning mode!  This had me thinking of lots of the design elements that brides from the past few years have been asking for, and what we can switch up and do differently for our weddings this year.

One of our favorite things are illustrations of the bride and groom. We used these cute alternatives to traditional printing or monograms on items like water bottles in the guest welcome bags or served before and after the ceremony.

Another big trend we are seeing for 2017 is in color palettes.. Paler pastels and neutral creams and whites aren’t as in demand as brighter color combinations like corals, pinks, oranges, and reds, with touches of blue.

Brides are also wanting their guest welcome bags to be something reusable- no more boxes or paper containers. Some classics we use are LL Bean totes with printed tags attached, or more recently wet zipper pouches or canvas totes.

As we are seeing things like illustrated maps, giant dessert stations, and photo booth props phasing out, one of our favorite new trends is a draught beer station in addition to the bar (we’re doing in our reception lounges).  You can see more of what trends to avoid in 2017 here from Vogue.com.
