The boudoir photo trend is here to stay, and we love the idea of capturing a special moment as a wedding gift for your husband’s eyes only. Elizabeth Messina took the photos here, something she specializes in, and we think they’re pretty enough to frame. Art in and of themselves, any guy would be lucky to get these on his wedding day.

A lace curtain serves as a beautiful prop in this sultry photo. We like the idea of including special pieces, or a bit of your environment to help remember moments in time. And of course, it’s important to find a photographer who can take tasteful photos that will serve as a timeless keepsake.

Working in part of her wedding wardrobe, the bride wears her veil in this sweet shot. The white on white combination gives the look a bridal feel, and keeps it from feeling over-the-top sexy.

Location is an important part of a boudoir shoot, and while many photographer’s have studios you can use, we suggest working in your own space where you feel comfortable, or even booking a luxury hotel suite where you can pamper yourself afterwards.

What to do with your photos once you’ve gotten them from the photographer? We think your husband would love having an album of some of your favorites, but it might also be nice to frame some of the more artistic photos and put them in a private spot in your house such as your bedroom or bathroom. Bridal Style: Carolyn Bessette Kennedy

In a new feature over here at the Bon Bon Blog, we’ll be profiling a favorite bride of ours and creating a moodboard inspired by her inherent sense of style, so you can get the look yourself. We’re kicking things off with one of our favorite brides of all time… Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, married the same year I was in Cumberland, Georgia. Apparently her dress was designed by her dear friend Narcisco Rodriguez, who while under the radar at the time, wasn’t for long after she walked down the aisle wearing one of his custom creations. And of course this photo itself is iconic, taken by Atlanta-based photographer, our pal Denis Reggie.

Carolyn’s elegant, yet minimal sense of style was truly inspiring. Did you realize she got married in the tiny First African Baptist Church (bottom right) with only forty guests? Here is a woman who could have had every over-the-top detail she could have dreamed up, yet she kept her ceremony beautifully small, intimate and special. How gorgeous does she look in the bottom left photo? In the center of the moodboard, you can see a sketch of her dress by Narcisco Rodriguez for Cerruti 1881. We love the modern interpretation by Stone Fox Bride on the top right, shown in a silk charmeuse bias gown with plunging back and gathered train. It would look great with these classic Jimmy Choo strappy sandals, and a long sweeping veil by Sophia Kokosalaki. Finally, on the top left is an arrangement we did for a Soiree wedding a few years ago, using an array of white blooms that would be perfect for an understated bride.

#SETPIECE: Tara Guerard x 1stdibs

A few weeks ago, I hosted a fabulous luncheon in New York with the team at 1stdibs. We invited all of our editor friends, and had a lovely meal at The East Pole restaurant, while I shared tips on infusing your tabletop decor with vintage pieces. It was a blast! And as of today, you can check out the pieces I selected from 1stdibs to get this look on their website. It was such fun to work with their team on this, and I think y’all will enjoy doing some shopping!

Now, do you want to see pictures of the event? I thought so…

We sat at a long table covered in hot pink anemone flowers and surrounded by the beautiful, vintage maps that hung on the walls. It was great to get a chance to chat with my New York friends while I was in town, and no one wanted to return to the office (myself included)!

Here are some close-up images so you can see what fun we had with this! I used one of my own fabrics from my Life is a Party Pop-Up Shoppe for the table runner, and wrapped the calligraphy menu around the vases. Lastly, I tucked rosemary around the napkins, and used lavender to hold up the lemons in the water for an extra special touch.

Ok, now the fun part! This is the first of five looks that you can shop now! I was inspired by the vintage floral pattern on the plate, and decided to go with a yellow pottery vase and mini daisies for a look that I think that would be perfect for a girls lunch or tea party. I paired them with ornate silver flatware, grounded by classic hemstitch napkins, and topped it all off with beautiful menu cards by the Lettered Olive.

Here is a more modern look that I finished off with art deco napkin rings in a green hue pulled from the plates below. Do you want to know a secret? In the center of the plate, underneath the napkin and beautiful stationery, there is an incredible hand painted bird! If you don’t believe me, click here to check it out yourself.

The third look was the combination of some of my favorite wedding colors – tangerine, peach, and forest green. The heron vase and decorative ducks give it a woodlands vibe, but the sophisticated materials keep it feeling luxe.

Pictured here is my super fresh, spring table that was tailored and classic in a green and white color combo. I think this would be great for an engagement party, don’t you? I did a little shopping at the New York Flower Market the morning before the event, and was thrilled to find these lush, gorgeous blooms.

Last but not least is my whimsical take on an outdoor summer wedding! I used horn flatware, flax linen napkins, and finished the look with a decorative piece covered with cute little critters.
