This luxury wedding designed at the Gaillard Center in Charleston, was the first big event after their renovation. And, this was our event before the Covid shutdown, and our second wedding for the Mungo family. You may have also seen it featured in Charleston Magazine, with this shot on the cover. Our interior designer bride came to us with the color palette. She also wanted to include lots of natural elements, we think we hit it spot on for her. Thank you to Liz Banfield for the images.
Lettered Olive took the green, white, and black palette and created patterns and pieces to work together. The spectacular invitations featured actual foliage behind acrylic, for example. And, a bold black and white patterned envelope made a bold statement in guests’ mailboxes. Also, metallic gold hints added a bit of formality.
Guest welcome bags include custom branded snacks and gifts. And, the weekend information booklet features watercolor icons of all the event locations.
Of course, the girls spend the day getting glam together. The matching dressing gowns are a gift from the bride.
The bride wears an off the shoulder gown by Modern Trousseau. And, the groom goes with a classic tuxedo by the Knot Standard.
Adding this small splash of pink was the only color outside of the green, black, and white.

For another special detail, Lettered Olive created a custom sign for the marquis.
The bride and groom enter their reception venue for their first look.
This space is cavernous and can accommodate thousands for large scale events. So, our challenge was to create an intimate experience. Laying carpet, and draping fabric help with acoustics, for example. And, of course, we like to use patterns and styles in our design scheme.
Here, lots of lounge seating helps define the space. And, an oversized bar accessible to many means no one has to wait for a drink.
In addition to the many food displays, passed items help cut back on guests rushing to the stations. Of course, we want to include details like custom embroidered aprons. And, the printed tray liners featuring patterns from the printed materials.
So that we could break up the high ceilings, a floating platform holds the wedding cake by Jim Smeal.
We think champagne is quintessential to weddings. So, we built a foliage champagne wall, with our signature Soiree orchid. Guests could grab and go.
After cocktails, dinner, and a live jazz band, the after dinner lounge was revealed.
Custom printed lamp shades featuring the pattern from the invitations are placed throughout the lounge.
The dance floor is the focal point of the lounge. The bride helped design the dance floor, which features names throughout. Large live floral installations hang over the dance floor, bringing down the high ceilings.
And, for a special treat, we surprised the couple with a confetti cannon after their first dance.
Other special reception details are custom cigars, late night sweets (including milkshakes), and a glam photo room .
After dancing the night away with guests, the bride and groom departs to a sparkler send off, in a vintage Rolls Royce. Happy Anniversary!
